Dunno, mate. But, if you can manage it, you need to be hot footing it to Rhodes, wherever it is, to do at least $80 bucks worth of the groceries this week.

    Problem solvered.

Thanks Ex, and so my little theories are presumably..hmm..shithouse arguments. On a little side note..Shasta makes a good point..make your way to Rhodes quick smart.

All-in-all, its a tall order to ask a city that has quite abit happening in terms of big sporting games in a relatively short window to come out in force for a "rubber" game against a "rubber" team. I would think 45k for the France game (numbers which would sell out Subi) is a tidy effort. Again, its an issue of sensationalization. If this was an All Blacks/Wallabies game then I would truely be aghast..for now, *stifling a yawn* its a nothing story (as far as I'm concerned).

im not defending the city, im defending the wallabies.
Maybe you dont realise but laughing at sydney isnt going to bother anyone, they dont give a crap, they are above that. It does damage the image of the wallabies though.

Look a lot of this is a result of the economy and interest rates/petrol prices etc. Basically there are lots of people who, like Ex have to make a decision on what to do with their cash.

The shopping centre is marketing to address exactly the same issue. the fact is that the Bled Cup will go off as it's a huge drawcard with several aspects which make people want to see it, as a result, the French will only ever get those who a) are French and don't care too much about the Wallabies, b) can afford to go to both games, c) Don't really know much about rugby and can go have a look at a match for less money if they watch this one.

If the same card was shown in Perth I'd expect a similar response.

it damages the Wallabies by having half empty stadiums when they play. So once again you go back to the original arguement. I find it hard to believe that in a city of 3 million that they can only get 40,000 to a game.

Definately some food for thought though for the ARU

as an after thought, maybe FA should be laughing at the ARU for failing to attract a crowd and for having faith in it's "heartland"

i would also have to say that the slow ticket sales are a responce to the inflated price of pretty much everything nowdays.
how can a family with say: a morgage, car loan(s), household costs, family birthdays, children's sports and all the other good stuff really justify paying $70 or more for a ticket.
espically when you can go see AFL for half that!

to the ARU: would you rather sell 15,000 tickets for $70. or 40,000 for say $45?

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

I'd go shopping to get free tickets!

While it doesn't look too good for the Wallabies, I think you have to concider the opponents. Australia doesn't have a great rivalry with France unlike New Zealand or South Arica. While Rugby is Rugby, most people would rather see a spectacle of a match between two highly competitive rivalries.

Face the facts, people aren't as interested in paying 90 bucks to watch France when they can pay 90 bucks to watch Australia play New Zealand. End of the day they are still getting bums on seats and who knows it might introduce more people to rugby who will, in the future, pay full price to go and watch a game.
