The Ford Australian Under 20s have today named their team to play Samoa in the 5th-8th Place Playoffs at the iRB Junior World Championships in Wales.

The Australians finished second in Pool C behind England after a last-minute charge-down try by Miles Benjamin defeated the Aussies in Newport on Saturday and ended their hopes of winning the inaugural JWC.

Injuries to Will Genia, Ben McCalman and Ben Tapuai have forced Ford Australian Under 20s coach Brian Melrose to reshuffle his side for the match against Samoa....

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

Bam Bam at 8?? - DH-P dropped to the bench -

Having watched the game i thought Dane he palyed pretty well - and a bit unlucky with the charge down - also thought the try scorer was in front of the man who did the charge down - so should have been off side.

There was another thread on Dane HP saying that he was the reson why Aus lost the game and were kicked out of World Cup contention. Maybe the Coach is just trying out something new. He knows what HP can do and giving some of the other players a run, giving them a bit of experience at international representative level?

Bam Bam can handle number 8. The experience will do him good if the Force ever have any issues with the number 8 role, he will be able to cover. Will also give him more versitility. Wallabies have number 7 covered with Smith and Waugh, being able to play number 8 might give him better chance of getting into the Wallabies squad this year.

Also given Bam Bam's seniority and experience the coaches probably think he'll do better playing out of position than the other options.
