Channel 7 Perth is crap!

Dear Sir

I am writing to inform you of my disgust that Channel 7 are not showing live coverage of the Wallaby test against Ireland.
Infact they are not even putting it on at reasonable time - 12.30am Sunday morning.

I find it unbelievable that you are allowing the promotion of the sport that I along with thousands of supporters love to be sold short.
I know you are not affected but we are.

This is a complaint at the lack of coverage provided by the Australian Rugby Union and their free to air broadcaster of the Australia v Ireland test match in Perth.
I appeal to the Australian Rugby Union to deal with this matter with the up most urgency.
The exposure of the Rugby Union at the highest level is paramount to the longevity of the game anyway in Australia.

Are the Australian Rugby Union fostering the growth of Rugby Union in Western Australia?

The Bledisloe is the only game that you are likely to see live in Perth on Channel 7, stick with fox, as they show all games live. If you don't have fox, probably better to keep tabs on scores here or find an online radio broadcast.

Its a bit like rugby news on all the free to air channel's. if you blink you may miss the news..

Its like channel 9 the home of rugby league, not in WA. wouldn't even know that State of Origin was on this week..

its GAYFL all the way, if you haven't got Fox your up the creek with no paddle if you love Rugby or even League in WA.

TV guide tells me there isn't even an AFL game on Seven at that time. Why couldn't they delay the telecast for the news and show the game at 6:30pm? That would be a tolerable outcome. 12:30am is taking the piss.

The gist of your answer will be they don't want to go up against AFL with Union so they save it until they can win the ratings for the time slot.
This seems to be an annual thread on TWF and the funny thing is each year we think it will change for the better.
It is disgusting and until the ARU balls up they will continue to do it.

All my AFL loving work colleagues control the TV in our control room. The cross country netball will be well and truly over by Midnight and shasta will have things nailed down workwise by then.

Good work C7 and C9 for Friday Night Football at the same time.

even though ive got foxtel, i still thinks its unreasonable that they do that, especially if its our national team playing.
heck, even the socceroos get prime time coverage. and so does AFL, and it's not even a proper world sport.

Foxtel has the Pay TV rights for all wallabies tests and Channel 7 has the free to air rights. The problem is that Channel 7 won't want to show live rugby games because they can't put ads into the live coverage, unlike AFL after a goal is scored.

If this was their only concern then I would suggest they start the game live and when they go to a commercial just pick up where they left off. So by the end of the game you might be say 30 minutes behind the actual live broadcast. But surely this is better than showing it at 12.30am.

Channel 7 is crap though. In fact, all free to air channels are. But 7 is by far the worst. Every Friday night they delay the AFL by like an hour. And put a ridiculous amount of commercials in, so by the time the game is over it's after midnight. Might be alright if it's a close game, but if it isn't I wonder how many people are still watching?

Why is the Wallabies vs Ireland Match (Saturday 14th June 2008) programmed to be screened at 12:30am - 02:30am as a delayed telecast on both Seven Digital and Seven HD? (according to the guide on the Seven website and rugby.com.au) Isn't an Australian representative sporting team more important than The Great outdoors, a repeat of The Vicar of Dibley and a Movie? I understand that the News at 6pm can't be interrupted, but why is the station delaying the telecast on both Digital and HD until 12:30am?

I am hoping that it's just all miss types etc and one of Sevens channels will be showing it Live or from 6:30pm at least. It is also really quite angering that Sydney and Brisbane are getting it live and yet again Perth gets ripped off.
