Hurricanes flanker Chris Masoe has reportedly asked to be released immediately from his NZRU contract after learning he had missed the All Blacks training squad in an answerphone message.

The Guardian newspaper has reported that Masoe was furious at not being told personally that he had been omitted and is now considering a move to Europe.
