Nedlands dominated the first half of the season's opening game to defeat premiers Perth-Bayswater 19-18 at Pat O'Hara Reserve, Morley. It was sweet revenge for Nedlands, 2007 minor premier and hot favourite who were upset by fourth-placed Perth-Bayswater in the grand final.
