The popular and respected Emirates Western Force skipper played in all but the round five Waratahs clash during the 2007 Investec Super 14 season when he was a late withdrawal due to back injury. He scored his first try for the team in the match against the Chiefs. Possessing excellent ball skills for a big bloke, Sharpie was a most deserving winner of Australia’s top rugby honour, the John Eales Medal. One of only four Emirates Western Force players to make the World Cup squad, and one of the game’s finest line-out jumpers, Nathan is set to notch up his 100th Super cap in the 2008 season. He made his Super rugby debut in 1998 playing for the Reds against the Hurricanes, and donned the Wallabies jersey for the first time in 2002 against France. In June, he was rested for the Test against Fiji in Perth, breaking a sequence of 28 consecutive Tests for the Wallabies since 2005.
