    Anyone need a reason? Here's 374!

If you were contemplating a refreshing ale this afternoon but couldn't find a suitable reason, I have one for you.

Today March 4 is the anniversary of the first ever Tavern being opened in the world. The Tavern was in Boston US of A in the year 1634....so there are 374 reason for drink today.

    Reason? No.

But it might just work as an excuse.

Speaking of "cultural significance", that is one of the reasons the Town of Cambridge has approved the Extended Trading Permit for on St Patricks Day so they can have an additional 200 patrons in the carpark area.

Yet, the first season of the Western Force was not, Wallabies Test matches are not, AFL Finals are not, A League Finals are not of "cutural significance" in the eyes of the Town of Cambridge. You would think we were living in Ireland, not sports mad Australia the so called "Lucky Country".

Lucky not all councils are as insipid as the Town of Cambridge.

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

I think this is the overall view of many government types towards sport...that once you get a beer in the hand of a sports supporter they will surely cause some trouble...some is warranted...I mean, if I remember correctly in the UK (I'm not sure it occurs in all sports, I'm pretty sure it occurs in the EPL) the stadiums don't even sell alcohol because of the fear fans will cause riots or whatever...but then again politicians aren't renouned for thier sporting prowess so such decisions can be expected....

I wouldn't dare compare a bunch of rugby mad mates after a few beers to a pack of soccer thugs from the UK.

In New Zealand you order beers by the six pack at the grounds no limit, just enjoy.

In Canberra 7% Vodka in cans, three per person at a time.

In Melbourne we had Stella, did go into a plastic cup though.

If they can't see that by having the option of buying a decent drink in a reasonable period if time during a match that it will limit (I didn't say end) the amount of pre game binge drinking then we will continue down the same path.

I don't think your average polly would differentiate...I doubt many of them would have even gone to a rugby game let alone spent time with the regular rugby fan....

Perth has a stringent enough Alcohol policy at it is...with alot of the other stadiums around Australia getting rid of your more strong alcohol (or at least they will do) I doubt Perth will add an option of an actual decent drink that doesn't cost $10 a middie...

Although in the diamond membership I have access to Becks, Tooheys News, and all kinds of good stuff so I can't complain

At least they approved that - last year didn't you all have to go to Ascot and JB's was closed cos they couldn't get extended permit for the carpark?
