    Comparison to last year

I thought it would be interesting to keep a running comparison of where the Force are this year vs last year. This will be done as a comparison versus the teams we have played as well as number of games played. I'll keep it running through the year. To recap last year, the Force finished on 32 points. To get top 4 last year took 42 points. So we should try to aim for that as a starting point.

    2007 Force after 3 games were 2W 1L 1BP = 9 points
2007 Force vs 3 teams we have played this year were 2W 1L 2BP =10 points

    2008 Force after 3 games are 2W 1L 1BP = 9 points

So compared to last year we are right on track. The great news is that obviously these three games last year were all home games, so to repeat that on the road is awesome. Even better news is that four of the games we did not win last year were on the road. I would think this year we should manage more then 4 combined points vs Crusaders, Brumbies, Warratahs, and Chiefs. Tough ones this year might be repeating the wins against Hurricanes and Reds on the road. Right now I see us going 9W 4L and if we can manage 6 bonus points, that will be the 42 we would need.

I'm not sure that beating 'Reds and 'Canes will be as difficult as you imply Gus......the 'canes are only starting to find their feet and the wheels have well and truly fallen off the Reds.....I predict that we'll struggle to win our first away game across the ditch, but since it's the Highlanders and they really haven't figured themselves out yet, that'll be a dodgy ugly looking win which breaks our last real hoodoo. After that we'll begin to live up to our potential in the shaky isles and the 'canes won't be able to stand up to us!

I can feel it in my bones!

But they are 2 & 1 with 1 bp. They are playing sub-par but still getting the wins -(sound like anyone we know?). Admittedly their wins were at home at home - where we'll play them.

I wouldn't be so confident if we didn't have a hoodoo-breaker before we meet them, seems to put stock in hoodoos for some unexplained reason, and they need to be broken for us to perform. I like the fact that the highlanders are weak and they're our first match in NZ this year, It'll get the monkey off our back, and the boys will play to their potential against the 'Canes....It should be enough (I think)

errr, sorry mate but you might want to check the fixtures. The boys have probably as tough a start to a season as is possible. Things get even tougher when they get to the shaky isles. That's why I reckon it was such a blessing coming out of ZA with those wins under their belt. They may well be under the hammer by the time they get to Dunedin. Let's hope not.

I was in Dunedin a couple of years ago when we played the Highlanders and we had them on toast for 70 mins then Digby from memory coughed up the pill, goodnight nurse! This year we play them at Queenstown so a fairly neutral venue and with plenty of tourists and the InnForcers on hand as well. Should be a win this time around with a far better and more experienced squad( hopefully). The Blues are a far different story. They love belting us and we love playing poorly against them.I wouldnt be putting the house on this one at the moment.

    Good thread Gus.

Ooops yeah you're right mate, I thought those two were the other way 'round. Oh well, the Blues will be tough what with the Hoodoo thing going on, but hopefully the Highlanders haven't sorted themselves out before we get down south!

Yeah we know Chook, the 'tahs will be doing a good enough job of beating themselves by the time we get to them!

Self flagellation comes in many differing forms. Some use leather straps and whatnot. Others are Tahs supporters.

Tah supporterdom, surely the most painful of all forms of self-flagellation!
