well its bloody obvious, you don't need to score a try if your opposition keeps making mistakes within your kickers ability to convert that mistake into points

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

Sorry Jenha, I can't roll with ya on the Lote is crap line today. Don't read too much into that Chook, I can't honestly say I hold an opinion on any of the backs' performances last night they just didn't get ANY ball! Surely if we had Drew on the field we might have made some breaks and maybe scored another one which would have pulled us through with a highly undeserved victory, but to be honest, Our forwards just didn't turn up. You can't will rugby without the ball and we spent most of the day being pushed away from our ball.

I'm spent, my 8 year old cried himself to sleep last night and I didn't have words to console him, we need to find a forward pack in the next 4 years that aren't going to let themselves be pushed around otherwise we'll be going another 4 years without winning the cup. We'll probably also be beaten by a boring northern hemisphere team who score no tries........why would you try anything else when you know how effective it can be?

I would think not making a penalisable mistake within kicking range is a pretty good way to play rugby Jenha

*Wink Wink* Say no more GIGST, I know you can't show too much allegiance to Lote on here. I will continue the good fight with your support in the background.

Frogglandians will surely beat the Pomlandians. The Frogges can score tries which, last time I checked, is a part of the game despite what boring Pomlandians will tell you.

If you'd bothered to follow the conversation Jess you'd see that the comment was refering to fairness of games being won entirely by one player's ability to kick from anywhere on the field. My apologies if i didn't make it clear enough for you.

Whilst i will never pretend i don't think he is an overrated player and that he has underperformed this year, I completely accept that the backline didn't receive enough fast ball which makes it difficult for him to do his job. My point was actually that he doesn't deserve an inordinate amount of praise for his try given that anyone standing where he was could have scored it. It didn't have a lot to do with his 'special' talents.

Agreed. I'd also think being able to score tries would be useful for a team in rugby. But like you pointed out, if you have a player like Jonny why would you bother? It's that which frustrates me because there are limits to your ability to prevent Jonny from scoring. Penalties are inevitable. But you can prevent players from scoring tries as a talented team

I've just realised, it was gregans last game .. he should have gone up to Wilkinson and smacked his nose across his face, problem solved and who cares about a penalty haha

I say we should give Gareth Hardy, Troy Takiari and AJ Whalley a chance in the wallabies. Based on the Spirit's performance in the ARC as well as the Force's performance in Super 14, i think our tight and loose heads are way better than Matt Dunning and Al Baxter. I thought Greg Holmes should have been given a go yesterday, he's become a favourite after his magic 50m try last year against the Irish.

But like what everyone says, our forwards were crap. Slow to the breakdown, shocking ruck work, bad hands.. they had it all. and a bit of ill discipline by Vickerman. I have to say Sharpie was the top forward there, but even then, he wasn't too flash either. After watching the reply again just then, in my opinion, Giteau and Larkham had a good game. Tuquiri was alot better compared to his past RWC pool games performance, but still lacking. Berrick was quiet and hardly there. AAC was alright, but would have made a bigger impact in inside centre. Latham was once again the best of the backs. Gregan made mistakes, mainly due to the bad rucking by forwards and the lack of defensive posts. Drew was awesome. First touch and he made a 30 m line break. If only there was support, then a try might have been scored.

Maybe the introduction of the ELV's will help in this regard, forcing teams to run the ball

Happy I think they have a fine system in place for players who make serious infringements during their last game. Seeing as they can't get suspended, they get smacked with a couple of grand's worth of a fine.

    I think anyway

Not nesercarily the best team one but the team the played the best, for mine. Congrats to the Pomlandians and their fans, they can pull great stuff out of the bag when the chips are down.

2003 final and this QF loss should spurn future Wallaby teams to leave nothing on the pitch.

I'm as mono visioned as they come regarding the Wallabies but dangnabbit, those results overnight are really making this a memorable RWC!
