Only name that I recognise and that is remotely related to WA is Jayden Ngamanu.

Did I read somewhere that WA finished 8th. I don't think we have finished that low in years. Something wrong going on?

So is this a selection issue or is it the standard in WA ?

The question is should we be beating the ACT and Victoria? I can't see any reasons why that should definitely be the case. By the sound of things the game against Vic was a lot closer than the final score.

I find it interesting that we beat both those teams at U20 level for the past two years but not at schoolboys/U18 level. Also, wasn't this the first year of the new year 12 age coming into effect (ie half cohort hit uni age in 2015).

Good for time. By the sound of his performances, I thought it was a bit of a rort that he was overlooked in the first place.

Definitely a lot young men miss out due to the selection process and will only get worse with the number attending club trials in the nth and sth zones in this age group
Having players register attend a skills session then cut squad based upon there skill level is costing a lot of players the opportunity to play at a higher level
Players should be broken in to squads based upon the recommendation of coaches and a group of selectors watching games during the season
Playing nth vs sth means the best 6 flankers are all nth but miss out based upon there post code
Looking at a lot of the players there skill set looks good but put them under pressure they tend to fold
If rugby wa are serious about developing the youth there needs to be more selectors at Britannia every Saturday taking note of the quality kids that are out there
Pick squads of equal strength and put them under pressure against the best in the comp this would help find the future of wa rugby and also let prem clubs see what talent is coming through and keep them in the game through to 19s
Also help with results over East if the best players were selected through a thorough selection process instead of the half hearted effort to date

i would like to think alot of lessons could be learnt from how the schoolboys squad was picked this year and how it performed

as for the North v south squads the selection around these could be more robust and a bit more thought put in around how to keep those late developers interested a bit longer in being a part of something that extends their skills and challenges them to be better

a bit more presence at britannia on a Saturday would be a good start if they can sort out coaches earlier likewise PSA games

all this stuff these days is coming under the watchful eye of the WAJRU and the allocated rugbywa staff

de selection is a big issue in rugby which only hurts senior rugby numbers long term

I second that notion. I think I've read that somewhere. Sad, huh?

You are spot on insider - look at the regional trials this year! It's crazy we've lost a large number of last years U15 JGC players who are not even trialling
