    The 2013 Wallabies

Using the team lists from the other thread (2010) I thought I'd have a play with some names for two years after the RWC to see what things may look like.
I have taken out those who I think will have headed north or retired but allowance has to made for the inevitable injuries, unforseen player movement and the new Melbourne team.
    Anyway, all in good fun!

    Burgs' 2013 Wallabies:

    1 Robinson, Benn Prop Waratahs
    2 Polota-Nau, Tatafu Hooker Waratahs
    3 Alexander, Ben Prop Brumbies
    4 Hockings, Tom Lock Force
    5 Horwill, James Lock Reds
    6 McCalman Flanker Force
    7 Pocock, David Flanker Force
    8 Higginbotham, Scott Backrow Reds

    9 Genia, Will Scrumhalf Reds
    10 Cooper, Quade Flyhalf Reds
    11 Ioane, Digby Wing/Centre Reds
    12 O'Connor, James Fullback/Centre Force
    13 Horne, Rob Centre Waratahs
    14 Hynes, Peter Wing/Fullback Reds
    15 Shepherd, Cameron Fullback/Wing Force

    16 Whittaker, Ben Hooker Force
    17 Fairbrother, Tim Prop Force
    18 Douglas, Kane Lock Waratahs
    19 Hodgson, Matt Flanker Force
    20 Turner, Justin Scrumhalf Force
    21 Beale, Kurtley Flyhalf Waratahs
    22 Barnes, Berrick Flyhalf/Centre Waratahs

How old is AAC? id have him in there before Horne
Also think Faingaa needs a look in after his good support show behind cooper this year

AAC would be 29 by then, he was certainly on the fringe of selection but took the stance that others who had matured (and by the way he plays probably starting to carry injuries) would have started to come past him. Would definately still be in a 2012 selection.

Likewise for Faingaa, right on the fringe ready for selection with injuries to the others, but if everyone is fit who would you suggest dropping out of O'Connor, Horne, Beale or Barnes? Perhaps Barnes will be injured into oblivion by then?

Probably his brother is the bigger ommision and that is probably on personal bias as I think Whittaker is going to develop into a world class Hooker, same sort of gut feel as I had two years ago for Alexander and three years ago for Genia.

Possibly the point of the exercise is more that, with all the youth we are seeing coming through the ranks now, the Wallabies are in pretty good shape post NZ'11.

Here's a selection that could be an "Australia A":

    1 Cowan, Pekahou Prop Force
    2 Faingaa, Saia Hooker Reds
    3 Ma'afu, Salesi Prop Brumbies
    4 Byrnes, Adam Lock Reds
    5 Thomson, Chris Lock Waratahs
    6 Jowitt, Cam Lock/Flanker Waratahs
    7 Hooper, Michael Flanker Brumbies
8 Brown, Richard No. 8/Flanker Force

    9 Burgess, Luke Scrumhalf Waratahs
    10 Toomua, Matt Flyhalf Brumbies
    11 Davies, Rod Wing/Fullback Reds
    12 Faingaa, Anthony Centre Reds
    13 Inman, Mitch Centre Force
    14 Cummins, Nick Wing Force
    15 Haylett-Petty, Dane Wing/Fullback Force

    16 Fitzpatrick, Damien Hooker Waratahs
    17 Daley, Ben Prop Reds
    18 Mumm, Dean Lock/Flanker Waratahs
    19 Houston, Leroy Backrow Reds
    20 Swanepoel, Mark Scrumhalf Force
    21 Lealiifano, Christian Flyhalf Brumbies
22 Ashley-Cooper, Adam Utility Back Brumbies

I reckon Cummins will be in the Wallabies 22 at least by 2013, if he can keep himself out of injuries.

The trouble with putting someone in is pulling someone out.

Cummins in over Ioane, Hynes or Shepherd?

Gill in for Pocock or Hodgson?

Cummins in for Horne. I guarantee when he has a bit more experience under his belt and he moves in to 13 he will be a monster Mortlock style (circa early 21st century not the 2008-2010 model). He's bloody fast, bloody strong and puts in some monster tackles (which he is unfairly suspended for ). Him and Ioane are from a very similar mould. I'd love to see him get his hands on the ball a bit more often.

Not if you can justify your position.
If you feel you have a better take on what is going to be happening in three years time then go for it.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
