FORCE NAME SQUAD FOR WORLD CLUB 10S MAURITIUS
By Fraser Smith on Fri 27th May 16 in NRC, Pindan Premier Grade
The Western Force have announced their squad to compete at the World Club 10s in Mauritius from June 18-19 with the club opting for a mix of experienced and up-and-coming players to make up the touring party.
The 16-man squad features five Western Force contracted players, five members of the Future Force Foundation and a further six talented players from the Pindan Premier Grade who could potentially represent the Perth Spirit in the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship (NRC) this season.
Leading the Western Force 10s team will be Junior Elite Coach Dwayne Nestor and the experienced coach said he is excited with group assembled for the tournament.
Its a good mix and pretty even mix as well, he said. There will be plenty of enthusiasm from all the players, the Force boys will be keen to play some rugby after not playing that much Super Rugby, the Future Force guys will be keen to impress and the club guys all seem really keen.
There is a big opportunity for the Future Force and club guys to show what they can do at a higher level and put their hands up for NRC selection.
Nestor said the team is looking forward to the challenge of playing 10s against some of world rugbys strongest clubs.
10s is closer aligned to sevens than 15-a-side, there is a lot of space, the breakdowns arent as heavily manned and there is a bit more pace in the game so its a great game to play and watch.
The quality of clubs that are attending the tournament is just fantastic and for our blokes to be able to challenge themselves against some top quality players will be a good testing ground.
Drawn in the same group as the French heavyweights RC Toulon, the ACT Brumbies and the Italian All Stars the Western Force 10s will kick of their tournament against the men from the ACT and could clash with the likes of the Durban Sharks, Saracens and Stade Francais in the cross overs.

Hoskins !!!???????? They can't serious
Why send a player that is leaving the club on what is clearly a development tour?
RugbyWA please explain
that is a Nestor team how dare you question it
Its 10's in Mauritius, not exactly the world cup.
I think there might be some good reasons why they would want their best prospects at home playing some solid competitive rugby in the weeks leading up to the NRC, rather than sunning themselves on a beach and swanning around a paddock with gaping holes in it.
Not particularly certain that RugbyWA would have thought that far ahead, but it might not be the disaster some are heralding.
There are some on the site who would suggest that sending Dwayne Nestor to Mauritius could only do good for West Australian rugby (I'm still on the fence regarding his value, but plenty slag him off)
C'mon the![]()

Nestor must have banged their wife/sister/daughter/mother!
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Hoskins is rubbish.
I hope it works, if there's a force forward more desperately in need of a couple of English winters I don't know him

Initially I think this team lacks names as the Force seem an afterthought in the advertising for the tournament. The Asia Pacific Dragons seem more of a drawcard than the Force.
I remember the Brumbies participated in this tournament in England about 3 years ago. Their team seemed strong. It will be interesting to see who the Brumbies take and compare that to the Force. I wouldn't be shocked if it wasn't something like this Forwards - Anae, Abel, Ruan Smith or Makin, Enever, Staniforth, Smiler, Butler, Wells or Hynes. Backs - Tou, Ah Wong, Dowsett, Dargaville, Coleman, Taliauli, Lonergan and Thompson.
I would like to have seen picked Scoble for Sexton, Cotterell, Faulkner and RHP for Hoskins, Ferris and Van Der Heyden. Backs Godwin for Ruru and Grant if available.
