    Force v Jags

Tall Timber Named for Jaguares Attack

By Fraser Smith on Thu 11th May 17

Road Safety Western Force Head Coach Dave Wessels has made several rotational changes to the match day 23 that will take on the Jaguares in Buenos Aires, Argentina at 5:40am AWST Sunday morning.

Loosehead prop Francois van Wyk moves into the starting jumper for the first time this season, while club captain Heath Tessmann has earnt his fourth start of the season at hooker.

It’s taken over 18 months, but finally for the first time we will see Adam Coleman and Richie Arnold starting in the second row together, combining to be one of the tallest lock combinations in Super Rugby.

Ross Haylett-Petty moves to the blindside flanker position, Future Force Foundation member Onehunga Havili will make his run-on debut at openside flanker and Richard Hardwick rounds out the forward pack changes in the No. 8 jersey.

Changes in the backline see Semisi Masirewa come in for his first game of the season and veteran Peter Grant slots into fullback for his first start of 2017.

Anaru Rangi is the only new face on the bench, as the big New Zealander is set to come on for his second match of the season at reserve hooker.

Road Safety Western Force captain Heath Tessmann says that the Jaguares are an exciting team to watch and pose threats all over the park providing a good challenge for the men from the West.

“We’re really excited to be playing the Jaguares in Argentina, but we know that we need to improve on last weekend’s performance.

“The Jaguares play a dangerous style of play and we will need to play a full 80 minutes to take the four points.”

Havili is not an openside in any shape or form. Strange selection.

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

Yep very strange selection unless he was forced due to injuries that we might not have head. Potentially beefing up the scrum.
As long as we get a win I will be happy.

    Hodgo is NOT injured.

Difficult to understand, especially with our lack of success to date, why he"s not on the bench as he's proved that he can play/cover the whole backrow.

no hodgo, no koteka, no TPN and no burton. coach has clearly gone for the big boppers at lock and back row.

van wyk finally gets in decent enough form to start a match and he's off.

maybe plan is to dominate up front and let the jaguars give away penalties & cards?? maybe the old fella hodgo just needs a rest

With this game and at this time of year I would be telling them to just throw it around and have lots of fun.
Hit the rucks and tackles hard but then run it from everywhere and have a lot of fun.

I am very perplexed by the selections as well.
1,2,3 are ok; probably giving TPN a rest
    4,5 I like
6,7 I don't like, I still think RHP is better suited at 4,5; and as WM pointed out Havili should be a 6 and I would have had Naisarani at 7 if Hodgo is out
8 I love finally getting him back in the starting lineup
9,10,12,13 are the best we have right now
11,14 Very surprised not to see Verity-Amm starting
    15 Why the hell not

Another thing not mentioned yet that there are only 2 reserve backs (with a combined 4 caps, I think). I hope this works else Wessels has some explaining to do.

4 jumpers and Peter Grant at fullback makes me think this will be a territory, line-out, kicking game. Personally, I'd like to see if we could make a fist of it.
