What has Micheal Foley been up to?

Blow for Perth as captain quits WAFL

    Dale Miller

Perth have been left searching for a new captain in a major blow to their finals aspirations, with experienced midfielder Dene White quitting the WAFL club.
White told football manager Tyson Beattie on Wednesday he would not be playing for the Demons this year for work reasons. The 28-year-old was due to announce his decision to the playing group last night.
The departure leaves a significant hole in the club’s playing experience, particularly after losing former Docker Tendai Mzungu to a rookie spot on Greater Western Sydney’s list.
White, a 128-game league player, won the club’s best and fairest in 2014 and has captained Perth for the past two seasons.
The firefighter will instead play for WA Amateur Football League A-Grade premiers Trinity Aquinas this year.
Perth chief executive Marty Atkins conceded the loss of White’s experience was a blow.
“The one thing I’ve been really, really pleased with is the way Dene has gone about things and his commitment to Perth Demons, which has been outstanding,” Atkins said. “He’s going to leave a big hole for us.”
Former St Kilda midfielder Clint Jones and Sandover medallist Aidan Tropiano loom as likely candidates to fill the key leadership role. Perth are bidding to play finals for the first time since 1997.
Sacked Western Force coach Michael Foley will run a leadership program at Claremont this season. The role will involve monthly sessions with the playing group in a bid to lift professional standards. The Tigers have lost Corey Yeo to Victoria due to work commitments.
Premiership player Matt Fowler has left West Perth to return home to Queensland.

Micheal Foley was always great with leadership and the culture of the team, especially in terms of the 'respect' motto the force put in place a few years back. A great leader himself and always spoke very well. Wish him luck for this new job.
