The performance was outstanding in patches. The first half was extremely good. Our backline is improving but we lack real talent at 10 and 13 and 15. Christie had a decent game and made a couple of breaks. Godwin just gets better and better.

The defence was largely very good.

We gifted them a try with the short restart that went wrong and we blew a chance right under the dot with white line fever. That's just inexperience and a 14 point turn around right there.

I thought the effort was outstanding again and they played the full 80 minutes.

Inexperience was the deciding factor, not talent or effort. The shorks had to work hard for that and the amount of yahooing, and back slapping from them showed it was a tough game that they had to earn.

I thought Wykes had a much better game. He was better in the lineout and had some picks and drives.

Mathewson is a very good player for us. Are we allowed to keep him?

Too right, I think on the whole I have been more impressed this season with Godwin than Folau, Foley, Lealiifano, even Ashley-Cooper (though he has runs on the board.) If they pick Folau as the form fullback, fair enough; but if they pick him as a winger, just to get his talent into the starting XV, then Godwin deserves to be in there ahead of him.

On a side note, I would now go for Godwin at inside-centre for the Wallabies ahead of Lealiifano. We're certainly not going to lose anything defensively.

I think he can stay for next year and then we need permission from the ARU for anything after that

We saw how good Alby is when Sheehan came on. It was like the whole team were wearing parachutes !

Agree! Last night the sharks were more composed than us. But the only way to get experience is to get experience! We'll be better at these as we go.

Wykes got through a lot of work last night. Was good to see. Hopefully he keeps it up

we give away too many penalties & cock up lineouts at crucial stages.Having said that, the sharks got away with murder, being constantly offside around the rucks & mauls. We need MMM back to sort this out,if the 3 blind men wont!

Pek seemed to blown up a lot, as I was only going by twitter and live foxsports updates, can anyone advise what he was doing wrong in the scrums?

So how do we fix that?

Move Godwin to 10 and find a new 12? Put Zack Holmes at 15? Keep Godwin at 12 and put Zack Holmes at 10?

Is Junior Rasolea a genuine option at 13? Do we put Will Tupou back there and give him a second bite of the cherry? Do we bring someone else in?

One of the things that I really like about this Super 'B' plan that Bill Pulver has is that a lot of young WA players will get a proper litmus test for Super Rugby.

Rex is a massive fan of the super B. It is the only sensible plan. The mickey mouse sh1t they tried a few years back was rubbish and a financial black hole.

I'd leave Godwin at 12. Why weaken a strength? We need to go and get a quality 10. Ebersohn had big wraps in RSA. he is tradesman-like at best. he may improve with time and experience.

I'd have the badger at 13 and Junior on the wing. Cummins should get the ball a lot more and he doesn't score enough tries to be a winger. I think he would be dynamite at 13. he runs straight and hard and always gets over the ad line. With some finishers outside, we'd look a lot better.

Losing Mafi was a cruel blow. He probably would have been the difference last night.

The shorks pack was hard to contain when they went the crash balls and pick and drive but they were well short of their best.

Another game that should have been won.........it's frustrating

Not sure the game plan but you are right Rex I get the feeling Sais does not use the pass often enuff to give the creative 12 to make a play 90 % either a hospital pass or a kick and then the 10% ( The Good pass for the 12 it works and we get it out going forward )

Alby fast out then NO. 10 slow Godwin fast then out to Jnr ,Hayward ,Stubbs, HB ,and Delitt and we have good go forward and in most cases either cough it up or score the weak link is our 10

Hopefully Zack Holmes will make a difference to 10 next year. At the moment Godwin is the only centre threatening the line, 10 and 13 have no attacking presence at all. Makes it too easy to contain.

I still think Brown is too good to be on the bench when we have Lynn and Wykes starting. Play MMM and Ben mac in second row and get our best players on the park. Our lineout is shit anyway
I agree, Christie 10, cummins 13, Stubbs wing

    Next year could look like

    9 matthewson/prior
    10 holmes
    11 morahan
    12 godwin
    13 horne
    14 cummins
    15 haywood/dellit

morahan had a good game last night and looked sharp and threatening everytime he touched the ball. Possibly recruited as a fullback I think but jayden is developing nicely there and would be a handy back up kicker for holmes. tahs are struggling to keep horne within the salary cap with them trying to retain foloa and bring back beale. word is horne is close with foley. with horne still in wallabies squad he will likely still stay in oz.
I agree with starting madness and big mac in the second row which allows us to start Brownie or Cottrell. Hodgo has been good but far out Alcock is another player too good to leave on the bench.
Captaincy needs to be reviewed imo and as much as I love hodgo I would like to see Pek be the skipper next season.
