WE DONT need cheika.... he is a coach, but saying that i'm a coach with stats... stats speak for themselves...

Podova - (Italy team), No Wins from 4 matches, walks out
Randwick - success in 2003 / 2004 after taking over mid season, leaves
Leinster - 2005, success, taking over midseason
Leinster - 2006, didn't make it thru groups stages of Heinkien Cup
Leinster - 2007, didn't make it thru group stages of H.C.
Leinster - 2007/2008, top of the league.
St De France - 2009/2010, 11th out of 13th with no H.C. success and 1.5 games away from relegation...

Another coach, like RG that wont have what we need... If we get him we will be in the same boat rowing towards a tsunami like we are today.

Kirwin had 1 year as an assitant at the Blues, where they finished .... 2nd last! ... Sure, he's coached Italy (sacked in 2005 after a winless 6N) and then Japan where he did some good things, but he's nothing special IMO. Let him go back to NZ.

Louden should have got the Waratahs Head Coach job in 2009. As an attack coach he's worth a shout.... Tahs went from 13th (2nd last) in 2007 before he joined them, - to 2nd in 2008... Bulls went from 4th before he joined them, - to claim their first ever Soup title in 2007.

He's not on the Force shortlist, though, so the point is moot.

Yeah I don't think either Kirwan or Cheika are brilliant prospects, but we are a struggling team with limited resources, what kind of coach are we going to attract?

Good point Hams, but I can guaranteed that the Force is a business and not a rugby club, they are probably pilfering the Centrelink / Jobfind network trying to find an Aussie that doesn't expect the kitchen sink thrown at him.

I'll say this: "Would you want to come to a team that has no success and no view of going forward" ? I can say 99% of players would say no if there is No coach or structure.

Point A "Get a top coach that will bring in top players, even if results aren't going our way".

Point B " everything else follows thru".... including results and championship.

Cheika did a good job at Leinster. He wasn't at SF long enough to recruit the players he wanted. In fact, the players got a bit shitty with Cheika's no-nonsense methods and complained to the president of the club afew months ago. I also suspect the financial situation at the Paris club is not what it was. He is a good coach, but whether he is the right man for the Force... I dunno.

Kirwan is also an okay coach, but I just dont rate him as anything special. I reckon there are Aussie coaches out there that are better.

In some ways it's a similar dilemma to recruiting players. Obviously everyone wants a top coach or player with winning experience at the top level - but those guys can name their price and choose their own club.

Alternatively, do you go for a coach (or player) who has been around at this level with mediocre results over 10 years, or a promising up-and-comer who has very good results over 10 years (in Louden's case as an Assistant Coach at this level or Head Coach at club level).

Personally, I'd go for the promising up-and-comer with the good results.

At least JK would have some idea about attacking back lines - so that'd be something to look forward to

You'd hope so. Can he improve the existing cattle, how did Italy and Japan fare?

John Kirwan was appointed head coach of Japan Rugby for two years with effect from 1 January 2007, signed till the 2011 Asian Rugby Championship.

10 Wins and 1 Draw in (from what i've found) in a total of 19 Games in charge, this including Asian Championship / RWC / Trials and Pacific Nations. from what he won the Pacific Nations and Asian Championship thru out his tender.

Italy Coaching "27 April 2002 to the 18 April 2005 Coached 32 times, for 10 wins and 22 loses"

Yeah, I think JK did leave Japan in a better position than where he started.

Italy - much of a much as they were.

What is Wayne Smith up to? I know he's helping out with the Chiefs, but has he still got a gig with the AB's? Is he part of Hansen's group?

No, he's only involved as backs coach for the Chiefs. Hansen's taken the former Chief's coach Ian Foster plus a couple of others including Grant Fox as selector.

What's a super rugby coach getting these days?

Warren Gatland dead set that's who we need.
