Im sorry - I dont normally say this. But...........

I thought the Ref had an absolute shocker, from the first scrum decision to the final whistle.

    Please forgive me Ecky, RugbyRef

Was it even a tackle? Hooper seemed to go low then EE seemed to leap over Hooper and up ended himself. IMO the IRU have got to do something about the scrums ASAP even in the middle of the season up north because they are now worse than ever.
Didn't help that Genia couldn't even put the ball in!
Glad I didn't stay up to watch that.
I wonder what the odds are for Argentina next week? Could be a nice little earner!

ITM, and Currie Cup players are all are all getting to grips with the new scrum rules - we're still learning it "live". As for scrums in general as for the years of research that went into this - Roy and HG would label it a farce, a farrago, and there needs to be a probe.... then again the IRB would most probably enjoy that. From what I saw of the Argies, despite their second half - they'd have to be favourites.

Argies don't seem to be having any problems scrumming!

I think we'll need to ay the whole game like we did the second half to have a chance next week.

If McCalman doesn't start next week there's a certain fix, he was by far the strongest running forward out there tonight. Simmons (after admittedly some decent showings) continued his dim slide into obscurity and probably should get a slot on the bench, with Fardy moving to the lock and McCalman into 6.

Backs weren't too bad if they ever got the ball, but they still need to build more aggression and pressure

They need to learn the basics. Coming into r/m from the side is just bloody stupid. Getting the ball into the scrum would help. Kicking for touch and getting it!
As for two trying for the same ball! Well maybe the coach needs to start with the basics!
I bet Dingo has a little smile on his face.

    All depends.

If you are saying it was the ref's fault that the lost, then I shall not forgive.....

No I believe that the Wallabies had a very poor game and that they were the masters of their own outcome.

Having said that. I believe that the Referee was overawed by the occasion, and overtly influenced by the local crowd. He penalized the Wallabies for infringements and then missed the exact same thing by the Springboks.

He sinbinned Michael Hooper for a tackle that was Dangerous that wasn't. He asked the TV Match Official to review the tackle and the reaction after the tackle - then viewed it himself on the bigscreen discovered his own opinion and then promptly forgot about both the review and the reaction of the Springbok players that saw Hooper both shaken and stirred.

I have to defend the ref's actions re the Hooper tackle, technically it was dangerous, (at least according to law) certainly it was unintentional and unlucky. Difficult to even call it reckless since Ezebeth jumped into it and hit at a very unfortunate time, but his legs were above his head and he did land on his shoulder. It was soft, certainly, but law would call it dangerous.

What got my goat was the difference in management of the VanDer Merwe decision. The ref didn't make his own call and what was a deliberate, or at best extremely reckless elbow to the head was given the same sanction. On review the VanDer Merwe incident was far worse and certainly would have pushed the bounds of a red carding.

Those would be the questions I would be asking......also whether there will be any citation as a result.

Did Du-Plesse (sp?) get cited for the eye workout he gave to Stephen Moore?

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
