I give up.. What a waste of time!! I hope the ARU and everyone enjoy the crap that is the APC!!
Man, have a look at both the NZ and RSA province names for their NPC and Currie Cup, then get back to us. E.G. - You'll find that the Highlanders are broken up into Southland and Otago, Hurricanes (Wellington) lose their Hawkes Bay and Taranaki players for a start, whilst over in STh Africa - the Sharks team is divided into Natal and Eastern Cape for starters.
As a compromise name, the Western Force XV does well to indicate WA, plus the Force franchise being possibly underpowered by losing players to the Wallabies and their tours.
It allows for more marketing familiarity. Consider that Crusaders divide into 7 different provinces for NPC!!! The Oz states have it easier than the small provinces of RSA & NZ in this regard.
from little things, big things grow...

Look at the APC schedule....no Brumbies....no Reds...no Waratahs............
But....We have THE WESTERN FORCE VX.....no clearer I thought.....well done Rugby WA to get the S14 name into the equation...
No , don't look at that draw! The NSW Waratahs are the NSW Waratahs and the ACT Brumnbies will still be the ACT Brumbies!!
Brumby Runners (Canberra)
(not bad...is Ben Cousins eligible?)
Sunday 1 October: vs NSW A (Sydney)
(they got some imagination those Sydneysiders)
Sunday 8 October: vs Red Heelers (Brisbane)
(dog of a name)
and you still dont like Western Force xv???
travelling_gerry you make a darn fine point! I think it will do its jobmuhahaha and as long as the boys get in a little experience im happy .... even if they were called the no gooders ... id be happy to watch em play

Someone must be listening, the name seems to have just changed to Western Force Gold.
http://www.rugbywa.com.au/wa/wa.rugby/page/44852
I like that title, as it incorporates our previous WA title
Haha! So we have the Full Strength Western Force side, and the light version - Western Force Gold ...![]()
(for non-locals - a local WA beer is Swan, and they also have a low alcohol version called Swan Gold)
Jokes aside, I think it works well, ties in nicely with state colours and names of existing state teams
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
so im guessing we will be wearing the gold strip then ay?
That is correct. It might even be a whole new strip.
ooo sick more force gear! 10% for members YAY!
I'll just through my 2 cents worth in.Man you will also find that the NPC teams have different coaches to the equivalent S14 teams. They are totally seperate & they all are known as the province they represent ie: Canterbury,Mid-Canterbury,Sth Canterbury,Sth'land,Otago,Auckland,Hawkes Bay etc, etc, etc. The franchised S14 teams all split up & don't come back together until training starts for S14 the next year.
Hope this helps!
