I'd find it hard to believe otherwise. I thought Whittaker was good whenever I've seen him play. Not quite as good as Charles but definitely up there. Could his form be that bad? If it were something else, like some kind of internal conflict, why wouldn't you just release him?
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
I thought it must have been a form issue as well. They put the team lists up on the RugbyWA website and he has been listed at 2 for Cott for awhile now. Not sure how accurate they are though, maybe someone from Cott can confirm if he is actually playing and making any impact?
maybe it just comes down to the agreement with RugbyWa that Cott must have a minimum of 2 Force contracted players in first grade at all times so if he went to the Force they would only be left with Lefau.

OK so the team and backup looks something like this:
1 Cowan/Maafu
2 Charles/Whittacker
3 Longbottom/Manu
4 Lynn/Battye
5 Wykes
6 Hodgson/Cottrell
7 Pocock/Brown
8 McCalman/McCaffrey
9 New Player - Established Super XV quality/Turner????
10 Ebersom/Seymour/Godwin
11 Wara/Rapana
12 New Player - Established Super XV quality/Stanley
13 Tupou/Rasolea
14 Cummins
15 Mafi/Dellit/Harvey
16 Whittaker
17 Manu
18 Battye
19 Brown
20 Scrum Half (Turner????)
21 Seymour/Godwin
22 Rapana/Dellit/Stanley
Two 9s are essential now, leaving one slot. If they sign Taps for the starting 12 the fourth lock and wing is out, but Rasolea can cover the fourth wing. Harvey is essentially a third cover for 15 and fourth for 10 - which might not be a bad thing given our problems in these areas over the years.

Remember we could carrie a payer like Jake ball as lock cover in the EPS young 20 year old perth biys its a good fit. As well as McCalman who can cover lock with easy.

We forgot Sidey as well.
These players are all giving us good depth but like you said we need a quality 9 and 12. I don't think any of the guys mentioned above in these two positions are going to take us to the next level, well not next year anyway
sensational forward pack though
Have heard from one of the boys Wara, Sidey and Seymour all won't be re-signed next year.
Seymour already in for 2013.

I didn't put Sidey in that list, but did put in Wara. I thought Wara has shown enough to keep/upgrade him (is he an EPS?).
As can be seen in the above team by upgrading Godwin and signing Harvey we have really limited our options. We really need a passing 12 still as Stanley is still green and Rasolea has shown nothing so far.

Would have thought the new coach (when he arrives) would have an opinion about who'll be staying and going...
I lean towards the 2nd. There are a number of coaches involved in Southern Hemisphere tours at the moment and we would do them the courtesy of not naming new coachs in the middle of those campaigns.
