by Sam Phillips
Underrated Rebels flanker Angus Cottrell is in line for a Test debut after being named in the Wallabies squad to tour South Africa and Argentina.
Cottrell has been called into the squad in place of Pete Samu who is out for a month with a knee injury suffered in the loss to the Pumas on the Gold Coast.
The 28-year-old will be a live chance to make his debut in Samu's absence as Lukhan Tui is also unavailable due to the sudden passing of his stepfather.
Cottrell, Caleb Timu and Ned Hanigan shape as coach Michael Cheika's only options to partner David Pocock and Michael Hooper in the backrow.
Jake Gordon is the other fresh face in Cheika's squad.
He has leapfrogged Brumbies halfback Joe Powell in the halfback pecking order after some stellar showings for the NSW Country Eagles.
There has been a similar swap in the depth chart at hooker with Tolu Latu left out of the squad.
Brandon Paenga-Amosa will travel to Port Elizabeth in his place.
That is where the changes end, Cheika retaining all of the available players from the 23 which fell to Argentina on home soil for the first time in 35 years.
That loss eliminated the Wallabies from Rugby Championship contention but Cheika said there is still plenty to play for overseas.
"There’s an opportunity presented to us now to get some good victories overseas and that’s going to come from consistency in the way that we play," he said.
"We have got some news additions to the squad and these guys have shown plenty of grit and determination to get an opportunity at a higher level so now we’re looking for them to add that to the mix.
"We’re very determined to make sure that we repay the faith and show people what we’re about in the way we play."

Great news for Gus, following in his Grandfathers footsteps Nev "Notchy" Cottrell, who captained the Wallabies playing at hooker for two Tests against the British and Irish Lions in 1950.![]()
80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
The Wobblies need direction in attack and set piece consolidation. They need tries
Bring in Simmonds for Rodda, he has rugby nouse (after all he knew which team to sign for)
Bring in Foley to 10, he is the only 10 in Australia
Bring in Ned Flanders at 6 for the retired Tui, he can jump.
Move Kurtley to full back, give him a license to insert himself where he wants. DHP to wing.
Move Izzy to 13, gives us more creative attacking threat midfield. Drop that plank Hodge.
All it needs is bringing in 3 Tahs and a bit of shuffling and voila! All problems are solved, the boys will be enthusiastic
pRAvda will read these brilliant suggestions, it will become fact. I kid you not.

I know you're taking the piss bison, but all I can think about after reading that is doesn't 13 need to be able to pass?

He should have been in the frame for about half a decade. But injuries and playing for the wrong club have cruelled his chances. At least Cheika has recognised that he has moved to an acceptable franchise now. HQ, as usual don't seem to know their arses from their patched elbows. Might be some rushed updates now, though.Hello there you lot.
BIOGRAPHY
Angus Cottrell is an uncompromising backrower who has been a consistent performer for the Western Australian club since debuting in 2012. Playing 14 matches for the side in 2015, Cottrell stepped up brilliantly to fill the void left by the injured Matt Hodgson. His incredible work ethic all over the park in tandem with Hodgson and Ben McCalman has seen him emerge as one of the Force’s most reliable forwards and a true breakdown specialist. The 26-year-old was selected from Brisbane club, Wests, in 2011, before taking up an Extended Playing Squad contract with the Force and was elevated to the senior squad.

Nup, from the nature of his posts, it's much more likely he is a failed wannabe rugby player, and given his obtuse nature probably playing Saturday avo for Melbourne Uni rather than Melbourne Rising or Melbourne Rebels. My grandma who has the evil eye (see JOC posts) this his name is Joel. A nobody with delusions of grandeur which seems to be symptomatic of rugby over east.
Lol I see he has now fallen out with Johnny Football

The Roar has no block function. I noticed he stopped posting on the Green and Gold forum several years ago.
