Good to see Sinders telling Harris to pull his head in
Nick Taylor
Western Force chief executive Mark Sinderberry has described as "ludicrous and ill-conceived" suggestions by a former boss of the Super Rugby club that it should be relocated to Sydney's western suburbs.
Outgoing Waratahs chief executive Greg Harris, who resigned in 2009 after 12 months in charge at the Force, said the Australian Rugby Union was not strong enough financially to take on other sporting codes nationally.
"Has Perth got the capacity to host and underwrite a team?" Harris said
"They are competing in an environment in Australia and internationally with the odds stacked against them both from a player perspective with respect to the current contracting rules and a commercial perspective."
But Sinderberry fired back asking why the heavily ARU-funded Waratahs could not raise revenue on the back of their Super Rugby success.
"The real question that needs to be asked is how the Waratahs have really failed to capitalise on the success that they have had," Sinderberry said.

Harris, who finished his tenure at the Waratahs last week, was executive director of Sydney University sport before moving to the Force and was former general manager of football operations at the Melbourne Rebels that needed millions of dollars from the ARU to survive.
Had a better read of the story and found this interesting Reckon he might be a mate of Papworth?
Great comeback by Sindberry, it appears Harris trying to divert attention from his performance while at the Waratahs.
Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
Greg Harris is a grub, I will never forget attending the post match drinks in Canberra at the Crown with the team their families etc while Greg Harris was our CEO, never been so embarrassed and discussed that this was the top of our tree.
Just like RG he was planted in WA by the ARU, until they found him a better option.
None of this has come from the ARU, it is all a media beat up.

There might be some on this site who don't have much time for Mark Sinderberry, but he's just earned my respect!
An argument-destroying broadside like that, so liberally littered with fact and retaliatory speculation is a beautiful thing.
All Greg Harris has achieved is to highlight the waste of money that is the Waratahs success story and give Sinders a perfect platform, built by one of the ARU's favourite bum-buddies to question the massive financial inequity that makes it tough for the Force to win rugby matches.
ps even with that, we can run the unquestioned top team in Australia (who had a pet ref) a close race.

Well said Mark Sinderberry!

Now we have Spiro joining in on 'The Roar'. I thought this was the part of the Jihad being organised by Sydney and Shute Shield and NRC. I think the idea is so wrong. Why not support West Sydney as Australia's sixth franchise. Build it not relocate it.
So we relocate Australia's worst performing franchise, the Queensland Reds, to Western Sydney. We then change their name to the Western Reds. Boom. With a name like that they are bound to have long lasting success.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Wests Panthers has nice Queensland ring to it.
Japan and the Pacific Islands for Aussie Super 9's!
Let's have one of these in WA! Click this link: Saitama Super Arena - New Perth Stadium?
Spiro has been suckling at the teat of the Waratahs since he detatched from his mum, It's no surprise whatsoever that he's so far up Greg Harris' colon that he can no longer see daylight.
He even suggests that Harris running from the Tahs before they fall flat on their face both financially and in performance is good succession planning. He continues to pen an exhaustive opinion piece, long on speculation and short on data.
Notice how different it was from Sinderberry's response? No fats, no statistics, no logic...sure the East coast is the biggest market, but they can't fill the stadium with one team, let alone two. Their vaunted tribalism, which will apparently save the bank balance of everyone in rugby will do nothing more than spread the few diehard supporters of Super Rugby in NSW between two teams not one.

more of interest is the responses to the article, all of which seem to be calling Spiro an idiot.
I don't think he got the support for that idea that he thought he was going to get.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
