AUSTRALIA has suffered a major blow to their World Cup plans with their two biggest ballcarriers Will Skelton and Wycliff Palu ruled out of the entire tournament with injuries.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Well, that was a lot of use taking them, then! Mind you, getting them injured in a meaningless pool game did prevent losing useful players for the important matches!![]()
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Great news to hear the two biggest passengers are out of the squad, shame it took injuries to make it happen.
Now we only need sanity to reign WRT Quade and we might just have a shot at this thing.
Not sure why they're replacing a backrower with another hooker.....has Tatafu got something going on?

I was just thinking we're a little overloaded with 7s
that being said, we're crazy if we don't start two of them........

Surly a starting back row similar to what was used against Fiji is on the cards.
McCalman wouldn't far away from a spot in the side either.
Have to be bench I think.
Fardy has probably done enough to secure 6. McMahon shows promise, but not up to the standard of the other 2 yet. Locks is where the real headaches start. Simmons has to start (and we all know how much it pains me to say that) there is not a helluva lot else in the cupboard, Douglas seems to be brawny and, at least tries, to play the way we need, but I don't think he's having the impact required for a bloke who the ARU turned inside out to sign. Mumm is.....OK, nothing spectacular, who else is there?

It is a shame that McCalman has seen off the challenge from Palu and Higgenbotham for #8 and now Pocock is playing there and won't be dislodged. Plus with Mumm able to cover second row and #6 Chieka prefers to have two locks on the bench which makes sense.
If Mumm starts against England then he may play McCalman on the bench with Douglas or Carter hopefully.
Nothing to see here![]()
