Thought they looked very strong in the Bulls back yard at the weekend.
Anyone feel confident about the game this weekend ?
If we escape with a bonus point for losing by under 7 points, I will be delighted![]()
80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Inclined to agree Innforcer. Just can't see us scoring tries against them and Grant will kick a lot of penalties that I'm sure will come his way.
However, I DO feel we can take the Bulls at home - dont think they are playing as well as they did last year (or year before)
By the way - you can change your Avatar message - we HAVE won![]()
Yeah, it looks like a bloody big ask, but if we want to play with the big boys, we need to be able to handle teams like this.
Week do I remember last year, the Stormers were playing us at home and I went into the match thinking we would be lucky to get away without injuries......we put them away and the winning began!....I only hope we've got a similar performance in us.
I think our defense will be good enough to keep them, at least, honest. Hopefully, a couple of tries scored in the wet last week will be enough to spark a brilliant attacking performance and we win by a couple
Yeah, I know.......I'm completely one eyed!

Good descipline will be the key spin it wide Smith v Habana be great match.
The Stormers are due a bad game. We can frustrate them especially with Schalk back by showing the same enthusiasm in defence and being aggressive (without giving away too many penalties) at the breakdown. With the form Sharpie showed against the Lions in the line-out I'd try to pin the Stormers in their half of the field.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
The stormers are very reliant on their ball retention at the break down and i feel we have the best fetchers in the comp so they will struggle. If we can put pressure on them close in we will find their structure will contract and create space out wide. Habana particularly gets very frustrated without ball and will come looking for it.
We also need to be careful of their tendancy to run the ball from their 22 like the sharks do.
...and our passes will need to be crisp as they have the two best interceptors in the game.. Aplon and Habana.
If we can control those three things i think we will roll them easily... if not then its kittens.
One key will be the breakdown, how the referee polices it, and how our back row adjusts. Our defense isn't bad either, so it will be tight. If we can recycle ball quickly, while slowing theirs down, we are in with a chance. If the ref doesn't like our methods, Grant will kick them to victory.
Play the entire game with 15 men for 80 minutes will be a good starting point.
Also need to make sure that the set pieces are solid (don't expect to win heaps of tightheads or lineout steals), just as long as we don't lose it on our feed.
Any competition points from this game will be a good result (but I'd prefer 5).
Force by 4. You heard it here first!
If we can keep some discipline and the ball in their half, they can't kick penalties and I haven't seen the replay from last weekends game, but they haven't exactly been a try scoring machine so far this season. Totally within the Force's capacity![]()
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...
Courtesy of quality South African commentry
We can win this match in the same way as prior to the Blues fixture we could win that match, that is no one really would expect them to going in but it is possible.
Except, it is in South Africa and it is the Stormers. That is, an away match and the Stormers are more stodge and less unpredictable (ie performance) than the Blues who are renowned for their changes in form.
I certainly am not saying we can't win, hell, I did watch the Tahs v Cheetahs last week anything is possible, but it would be a most unlikely result.
The current Stormers are genuine contenders, where sadly we are still mid table heart breakers.
That said: 22 all draw...
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
anything is possible
wont be throwing all my Vmoney on the Force though
After having beaten the Bulls at home the Stormers may be over-confident and think they only have to turn up to win.
If we can get right in their face in defence and not let them get any momentum we are in with a chance.
Discipline and attitude will be the key. I like to think we are capable of a win every game we play...
I'd love t see it happen, but think ALL the planets would have to align just right
