I've just been informed that Eric Hall, secretary of the Associates Rugby Club for many years gone, passed away a few weeks ago.
On behalf of myself and all those who knew him, I express my condolences to Eric's family and friends, within and without the Associates club.
Eric was everything a rugby man should be, loyal to his club, fair minded, and generous with his time and money when it came to the sport he loved.
In the 40 odd years I have known him, during many of which we were respectively secretaries of opposing clubs, I heard nothing but encouragement and positiveness from him and never heard him say a deprecating word about anyone or any other club.
His is a sad loss to all the rugby fraternity.
I hope someone from the Soaks club who is more familiar than I with Eric's playing history and contribution to their club, and to rugby in general, can post a fitting eulogy to this likeable, hardworking rugby icon.
Farewell Eric.
