Erin Warnock is nominated for the HSBC Volunteer of the Year Award.
Bunbury in Western Australia is home to the mighty Bunbury Barbarians Rugby club where Erin Warnock coaches the young U13s side.
Erin is one of the many volunteers in Rugby who is nominated for the HSBC Volunteer of the year award. The award aims to recognise the dedicated people in Rugby who give so much back to the game through time, dedication, knowledge and passion.
Erin Warnock has been coaching his current crop of young charges for three and a half years having started with them in the U9s.
Erin’s son is still in the team and Erin has relished the opportunity to coach the team:
“It really has been a great experience to be involved in the coaching of the guys at such a crucial stage of their development.
“For me the best thing about coaching is seeing the kids who think they can’t do something, finally achieve it.
“The look on their face; they physically light up and for a coach there is no better feeling.”
Getting involved in all aspects of the coaching Erin says he learnt a lot as he went along through his time with the junior side.
“When I started coaching it all sort of happened very quickly but since then it really has become something I really enjoy.
“It’s good to see the balance between fitness and fun, which helps the kid’s development with body and mind”.
The HSBC Volunteer of the year award closes on Friday 3 June, 2015 and you can get your nominations in here.
