Benny Mac may have to fight for his place back!
All hail Westie Wessels!!
And the magnificent pack!
And the boys with speed!
we're all going to look back on this season and ask "what could have been" without all of those injuries. We are still missing our best 2 half backs , a starting prop, our best 2 wingers and our fullback and if we had doubled our score it would not have been lucky. what a team-what a coach
p.s. there were a couple more missing tonight as well
Not so sure about Morahan being one of our top 2 wingers. He is too soft in defence. I rate noth Newsome and Verity-Amm more than I rate him and if Masirewa confirms he is up there too. Very good depth in the outside backs.
Ruck Involvements – Jaguares v Force
Remember:
1. Early means 1st or 2nd of player’s team AFTER the ball carrier has been tackled and brought to ground.
2. Impact means active engagement: strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, protecting ball etc. (more than hand on someone’s bum or arriving after the hard work has been done). Yes it’s subjective - but as I collect all data at least it’s consistent.
3. Impact DOES NOT equate to Effectiveness. I’ve concluded that coming up with an effectiveness measure is just too hard in the time that I have available – but open to suggestions.

Comments:
- Force had 56% Possession & 58% Territory.
- Force had 26 Handling Errors (SR average 15) (big improvement over last week’s 38) and 25 Missed Tackles (Tackling at only 72%).
- Penalty Count: Jaguares 10: 10 Force
- Rucks Won: Force 100% (we don’t see that too often): Jaguares 92%.
- Force stood off 47% of Defensive Rucks.
- Neither side was attributed with a clean Turn Over Won but obviously the Force forced some penalties at the ruck.
- Hardwick had 21% of the Def Ruck Involvements.
- Best Tacklers: RH-P 8; Rona & Coleman 7.
- Best Ruck Involvements by Backs: Meaks, Rona & Grant as above; Newsome - 13T - 13A/0D;
- Big uplift in Ruck Involvements in the last quarter– especially from off the bench. Mighty effort by Cowan.
Update of Ruck Involvements by OSF & Back Rowers after Round 12

- George Smith having fewer Ruck Involvements.
- Appears that most OSFs are becoming clones of Hooper.
Duckies Haardwyk our new South African import.
Andrew, re the missed tackles, I would think the Jags offload game is a recipe for missed tackles, so while 25 missed tackles looks bad, it's probably explained to some extent.
I would think that also explains a low dri.
Back to basics we beat argies 8000 mile from home with loads of injuries and new players and were all over them at the end with ou reserves. Savour a wonderful hard fought win!!
Hardwick is making the future post Hodgo look not so bleak.
Cowan hits the 2nd most number of rucks in just 30 minutes! That's fricking amazing
Sorry I can't find a way of copying Wayne smith article in the Australian today re the force win but it needs framing -captures everything about the spirit and guts behind the team and our win- note McMahon off to Japan too-
Too soon for beginning to think we are safe??
Wessels selections have been interesting to watch. He picked Brache in New Zealand and Marcel played pretty well. He surprisingly dropped Verity-Amm for Mesirewa who played well when he got the ball, even Peter Grant at fullback was astute. Seems like a lot of things are falling into place for Dave Wessels, there's some strong squad-building happening here.
