I'm sorry is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?
P.S. Just to comment on Jards and Swee and their point about never having been told to move on by the cops, just remember that this was during schoolies at surfers so the cops literally would have been crawling the streets...people were probably being told to move on just for simply standing too long in one stop...so it doesn't necessarily mean he did much to deserve the direction. Context can be important.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that, but he was still given the move on notice and defied said notice regardless of the context it was handed out. I applaud him for not getting involved in the fight the knob that tried to start with him.
Northbridge isn't exactly the biggest area, and for some reason everyone in this town goes out on a saturday night, Northbridge is usually crawling with cops as well :P

I'm sorry if it's overly harsh, but I'm sick of springing to the defence of these guys only to be proven wrong and look like a moron. Sounds like there was cause for a move on notice (supposedly someone was coming to get him, so either him or his mates thought it probably was time to pull up stumps).
Besides which, this isn't a problem because he was issued the notice (no matter how easy/hard they are to attract)- it's a problem because he failed to comply with it. I'm thinking if someone's tried picking a fight with you and the coppers have told you it's time to go home, it's precisely that.
Ya gotta remember they were Qld cops. They're nearly as corrupt as NSW Cops :P
They were probably League supporters as well
Perhaps we might need to accept that simply being good at a sport isn't necessarily an indicator of character. JO'C might need to still grow up a bit to relise his full potential and I hope that I am supporting a team that can help him to do this as well as become the best rugby player he can be.
I highly doubt these cops would have even known who he is, in there eyse he was someone who was invovled in a fight at a nightclub, even if he didnt start it. They've probably heard the 'but the other guy started it' story 100 times that night already.
Surfers is crawling with cops most of the year, especially around the christmas time break when the tourists in the area swell the population to twice what it normally is. Its common practice to tell a person who has being involved in a fight to 'move on', even if he wasnt the person who started it, it just removes the chance that the other guys mate or the other guy himself wont come back to have another go.
Actually now that i think about it, i remember seeing Josh Valantine in a fight in the Brisbane Valley a few years back, a big fight broke out and he jumped in, but he walked away before the cops broke it up. Maybe Josh can give JOC some lessons..
