So Naisarini is our reserve lock??!
That's how it is.
The options as follows:
Adam Coleman - Calf – 5 weeks
Ben Matijow - Neck - Season
Matt Phillip - OK
Richie Arnold – Work in Progress
Ben McCalman – Thumb - ??
Angus Cottrell – Knee – Late in season
Isa Naisarani - OK
Brynard Stander - OK
Richard Hardwick – Not often used in Lineout
Ross Haylett-Petty - OK
Kane Koteka – Used occasionally
Onehunga Havili - Has been used in Lineout in NRC
There was a lot of discussion in the post- and pre-season about the shortage of Locks.
If I recall it was even discussed at one of the Members' meetings (?).
There is no doubt that we need another specialist Lock so that RHP can be used as a Linout option from No 6.
Surely we can seek injury coverage for Ben Matijow's injury??
We still have the possibility of another Marquee signing (but do we have the $$s?).
Wouldn't like to be the person to suggest to Hodgo that he returns to Lineout duties as he's probably tired of being dropped.
I look forward to the third of Godwin's one on one tackles on Meakes.
The first, the young fella has a lot of heart and will give it a solid hit, but will feel it hurt.
The second, he'll clarify that the first wasn't a one off or bad technique, Meakes just hits hard.
The third will blast him off the tackle, with whoever is running support destined for the try line.
I too have faith Ex ;)
Let's not forget the potential that exists in one Mr kyle Godwin.
Boys no mug, he's Ben broken by Foley playing him n 13 outside a known non-passer and a snail.
I just hope that he brain waits until next week to realise that he can actually play the game.
With the way the brumbies have developed under Bernie larkham I suspect it might take much longer.
Is there anything we can do to offset the Hoff/Frederick effect that e're likely to see on Friday? Does Wessels get to chat to refs before the game to query if The Hoff has renewed his glasses prescription? Am hoping he doesn't let his glass eye ruin another game!
Forget the refs - they are uncontrollable.
Force need to focus on their game plan in both attack and what they can in defence. There were a few instances last week where soft penalties were conceded after a lost line out inside the Reds half that immediately released the pressure.
Brumbies wil play for field position all night, especially with 6/2 split on bench. Really need to target their 10, as their only other option is to move Kyle in or their bench 9. I still see Toua as a bit of a weakness at the back so any kicks need to pressure him with good chase.
Will be a tough game, as the brumbies have been under rated from what I have seen in the first two weeks.
Couple of Force talk ups on FOX Sports new weekly union show on Tuesday night.
Upsides - Cam Shep was on there. McArdle pointed out that 9 of the matchday 23 were WA born. On the technical section with Kafer & Greegan they highlighted Louwrens.
Downsides - Kearns was on there & is being introduced as a "legend"...... co@kbag that he is!
After the first week I sacked it Kearns AND Mertens FFS. But after the boys have shown some form I had a look to see what they'd say and they were very fair in their comments. The additions of Hoils and CamShep was a highlight. Shep should get a regular gig on that performance - not because he's pro-Force. He was just very good; relaxed and made his points well and succinctly.
Do you think that's how the Reds tactic of jumping quickly was stymied?
The Ref was particularly vicious with them, and TBH I didn't think that the Force were a whole lot different.
Sheps has been getting heaps of commentary practice in the Shute Shield so he should be pretty comfortable in front of the Camera/mic now
We may have stuffed up the first couple of opportunities so far but damn it was good to watch.
