Like I said RugbyWA is trying to be proactive in its promotions going into the next phase of the relaunch as the Force started to get a battering in local newspapers and media. This was to some degree self inflicted by trusting the keys to the ship to Richard Graham who steered us into an iceberg. The occasional fluff piece may come across as drivel to us 'till i die' types but it portrays the Force in a more positive light than the negative crap we were dished up by the media during the season. Also they're not just trying to reconnect with past fans, they're trying to connect with new fans too. The alternative is do nothing and die a slow drawn out death.
I cant see anything wrong with connecting or re-connecting with fans but we should be able to spot the difference.
for example on twitter rather then just #SeaOfBlue. us lifers can have #SeaOfBlueForLife
".. it makes sense to join a team which I believe play my brand of rugby .."
:eek:
NTT, you are right, the battering was very much self inflicted and to be fair not unwarranted, so let's not be negative about player interviews and the like getting a good bit of space in The Worst. We're still months from kick off and if The Worst is happy to give space to stories then I'm pretty happy. And you are right, just because we are well connected with what's going on doesn't mean everyone else is is, so let's hope there will be more to come
Watched Currie Cup game today between Cheetahs & Griquas.
Sias played flyhalf and was quite impressive. Good distributor of the ball, no crabbing, quick and acurate passes even threw some Quade-like long passes which hit their mark. Good kicking game and solid in defence. All in all he looked the goods.
Interesting use of the TMO in this game;
1. Bit of scuffle off the ball, ref called a holt and asked TMO if one player had elbowed another. TMO looked at replay and said it was only handbags nothing to worry about. Game continued.
2. Head high tackle during phase leading up to try. After try awarded ref asked TMO to advise which player had committed head-high. Yellow card awarded.
3. Last pass before try looked forward. Ref asked TMO to advise on forward pass before awarding try.
I wouldn't mind seeing this sort of involvment by TMO during Super rugby games. Only took a minute for TMO to clarify each issue.
Todd watched the same game and agree about Sias.
Reffing bits were ok but can you imagine a few of our pedantic or should that be pathetic refs asking about every indecisive thought that might come into their smaller than normal caraniums. ( Icky is more acceptable) no bollocks he
' s still a ref just probably not as bad as the rest..
