The same answer to the question of how the Poms were returning the ball into the pitch I guess??
Brad Hodge having a whinge about Perth only having one BBL franchise - re list management. Maybe they should "exit" the Scorchers and pack the players off to Melbourne?
......just before Hoggy finally got the Renegades a wicket.
Re the BBL I posted on the Roar with a link from Cricket Australia about the BBL running at a 33 million dollar deficit stating that the BBL is the Melbourne Rebels of Australian Cricket and I wouldn't be surprised that signing expensive imports and moving players interstate away from their Shield and domestic 50 over teams are one of the biggest costs. Katich is wondering where the money has gone and a cap on the alickadoos in the Cricket Australia head offices (Alan Jones has said there are over 100 of them). Sounds awfully familiar may be they need a Senate Inquiry.
The BBL promises more money for the game but instead costs it a fortune at the expense of the real bread and butter Test Cricket and the real grassroots clubs.
How the hell can the BBL run at such a massive loss when it’s so popular???
The IPL in India constantly runs at a loss.
Might be curbed with the new TV deal.
Some people doubted it due to CA bringing it up during the pay dispute.
Setting up all new sides that they didn't look for private funding, renting out non Cricket grounds like Etihad Stadium (don't think the SACA have much to do with the Adelaide Oval these days), importing players, salaries for local players, they basically have a separate admin for the BBL. No wonder they don't want to expand as it would further inflate the costs. I think the Scorchers are moving to Optus Stadium so it is another ground to pay rent on. Given the cheap tickets I would like to see the break even attendances they need to meet the ground rentals.
It is a warning to the ECB who are going the same road and I think that there were a few counties that objected to it.
Jeez some of you guys have got to stop arking up. Not everyone east of Kalgoorlie is out to get us or close us down. What hodge actually said was that ALL states that only have one team have the advantage over the 2 cities that have 2 teams. Nothing sinister but total sense and logic. Stop getting ya hackles up people. You could be in The Klinger's position for fark sake.
Warner you idiot. Exposed Shaun Marsh to a 76 over old ball far too soon.
