Well yes, but it all starts with a win at home and a couple of good wins away (which would be an improvement on last year)
To make finals a requirement too soon would be insane. I'm quite happy with 'we can't afford to lose'

If we can get within 5 points of the Tahs first game out. Then win at home.
By the end of the season Finishing above 13th overall and 4th or better in the Australian Conference, for other teams in their post game interviews to say that was tough, they pushed us harder then we expected. We had to dig deep.
I would be a very happy camper.........
I would like for us to win our first game of the season. We've beaten the tahs enough before, always been massive underdogs, not got the first game monkey off our backs yet. That and the first home game will be enough to see me through three or four losses after it.
I'd like to see us finish out of the teens. 10th would be awesome.
But they never had ridiculous and unrealistic expectations. Leicester fans would have been happy just to avoid relegation. You'll always get these Hollywood stories where a team of nobodies wins the league against all odds, but they are few and far between and there is rarely any longevity in their success. Look at Leicester now battling relegation months after winning the league.
I suppose it depends on what he means by cutting down the lean periods. I think top ten is unrealistic, we would have to improve from 2 wins to 10/11 wins. I think 4 wins is realistic. Top ten is still possible, we've lost a lot of games by only a point or two, so who knows, but yeah I think we need to aim low and hope for the best.
I think our depth is still a worry and we are missing players in key positions but now we can say we have a nice handful of international quality players;
- Coleman/DHP/Morahan/TPN/McCalman/Hodgson. That is 6 players who are high quality.
In previous seasons you could probably only claim McCalman and Hodgo in that category. So if these 6 players stay injury free I think we will see a good improvement and other players will benefit around them.
I would like us to finish 3rd in the Aussie conference and the season not to be all over by week 4.
I wasn't sure whether wed won a first game of the season yet, which is why I phrased it the way I did.
I can still feel the monkey, we might have loosened it, but I still think it's there.
The fact that we beat the tahs to achieve it makes it even less of a stretch to think it might be possible.
And Barakat's line about not having the luxury of losing was accurate at the time. Remember the feeling around the future of the team was a lot bleaker then. I think he's saying that they can't afford to think about "limiting the damage" and expect to have a job in the long term.
