I wonder if he was at the game?
The excuses were being trotted out early last week. I expect we won't stop hearing about how vastly improved their performance was compared to last year and how the Attempted destruction of an entire rugby community was the best thing for Aussie rugby
it was all looking good until the easier fixtures ran out. Sooner or later someone had to play a kiwi team. Whatever the ARU says, even with a "bulked up" Rebels - still walloped. No growth there.
Yeah I noticed that a couple of weeks ago.
More short term gain, they can say the rebels were topping the ladder without mentioning that all the Aussie teams have avoided every tough game up until now.
The last half of the season will see the most magnificent slide into obscurity in human history
Have they ever won a match in South Africa?
Looks like the Sunwolves will retain their 2017 position on the SR ladder. Don't expect them to partake in the final year of the broadcast deal. They fell over the line this year with lots of promises from SANZAAR. A team full of round eyed expat Journeymen that is hardly supporting Japanese rugby. Crowd numbers in Japan the only thing promising for the world cup.
A couple of losses and already the tide starts to turn against Wessels the new Wunderkind coach. Doesn’t take long for the East Coast rebel ‘supporters’ (loosely termed) to start getting their knives out along with the ARU media hounds. The cracks start to show as the fake solution appears to be unravelling.
Bed, make lie.
I posted this comment on the Roar in Geoff Parkes' latest article in response to a naysayer who said Twiggy's comp is a waste of time and resources.
It is Twiggy’s resources not the RA’s. Had the RA not sold the Rebels to a man who was technically insolvent at the time they would have got some of the 13 million back and not thrown additional money at the team that should have come from the pockets of the benefactor. Money that is now gone which should of been towards the development of Australian Rugby.
Twiggy’s Force already have the best CEO in the game Nick Marvin and the players are contracted to put in 350 hours of community Rugby service. The game already has 30 more Rugby development officers due to the players taking on the responsibility in the state then they would have got after years of underfunding from the RA to Rugby WA.
The Force have also sold close to 3,000 memberships for their one off fixtures this year.
