MCCALMAN RETURNS FOR FORCE SIDE TO FACE REDS
By David Berrie on Thu 3rd March 16
Wallaby No.8 Ben McCalman has been named on the bench in one of three changes to the Western Force team set to do battle with the Queensland Reds at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, 5 March, with both sides on the hunt for their first win of the season.
Coming off a stint in the Japanese Top League following the Wallabies’ World Cup campaign McCalman was rested for the first round clash with the Rebels bit is fully fit and refreshed as the team make the journey to Suncorp.
Fijian-born flyer, Semisi Masirewa gets his first Asteron Life Super Rugby start after showing promise in 13-minutes of the bench on debut in Round One.
Skipper Matt Hodgson said he is excited to have backrow partner McCalman back in the side and is looking forward to seeing what Masirewa can do in his first start.
“It’s great to have Benny back and welcome him into the fold. He has had two weeks of training now since he got back and bit of hard study at night to get back onto the track.”
“Semisi was probably disappointed he didn’t get too much ball in his debut but now he has a full 80-minutes to show what he can do. He has been doing some great things at training so it’s a good reward for him.”
Steve Mafi and Adam Coleman will again partner in the second row. Coleman lead all comers in lineout takes in Round one and will again look to dominate come Saturday.
Rounding out the forward pack Matt Hodgson, Brynard Stander and Angus Cottrell will make up the backrow.
In the backline, scrumhalf Alby Mathewson will again look to provide quality service for Jono Lance at flyhalf. In the centres Solomoni (Junior) Rasolea comes in at No.12 to replace the injured Kyle Godwin while Ben Tapuai returns to Suncorp Stadium to face his old side for the first time. Masirewa, Luke Morahan and Dane Haylett-Petty will make up the back three.
Coming off the bench, Jermaine Ainsley will back up after and impressive performance on debut along with Peter Grant while Marcel Brache moves to the bench.

Force by >15.
16 IS ENOUGH!! :)
Can't wait to have George Ayoub calling proceedings up every 5 minutes! (End Sarcasm)
I assume RHP will pay at lock (not 8). What has happening with/to Walton? If he does not cut the mustard why have him on the books for 3 years?
Note to self: "Next season check which away games are on a long weekend, Stupid."
Only realised last nite. Shoulda been in Brisvegas tonite. :(
hmm..
I hope junior plays well at 12 - he has had a couple of seasons, and i think he is the weak link in the back line at the moment.
Brache deserved a drop to the bench - I hope he can make amends when he is back on the paddock
Good analysis on both fronts there Palitu.
I only hope that Junior's problems at 12 were a result of the incredibly awful service he got from a static 10 with no boot.
One thing's for sure, If he doesn't shine at 12 this week, he should never be given the jersey again.
And a spoon full of "sort yourself out" should do the business for Marcel, he was one of a couple of blokes who played with any ticker last year and I think he might be gutted to have been dropped.
I think Taps would be better at 12 and have Junior at 13. Taps best play with the Reds from memory was at 12.
We need to have the attitude in this game and really do a number on the Reds. Nothing better to build a season on than a winners confidence. Masirewa to bag a double starting on the wing. Lets go Force!
Has anyone got the U20s live stream working? Apparently at redsrugby.com.au but can't see a link from there for the life of me.
