Rumours

■ Momentum to cut the Sydney club competition from 12 to 10 teams is building, despite stupid denials from one official who, as usual, is in the dark.

■ Hot tip: former Waratahs football manager Chris Webb might be the next CEO of the Western Force.

■ Chris Alcock is on his way from the Waratahs to the Force. But we hear the Rebels are not impressed. Apparently they were convinced Alcock was heading their way, but suddenly the trail went cold.

■ The usual fun and games at junior level with complaints from the under-10s and under-11s about clubs getting into trouble for playing uncontested scrums during finals. Others have been involved in appeals after signing on too many players. And you wonder why many parents and players give up because of the nonsensical administration.

■ Some interesting people have been sighted near the Australian Rugby Union head offices at St Leonards in the past few days. The ARU investigation into salary cap rorts at one Australian province is getting very serious.

Chris Webbs being looked at as a recruiter not CEO because of his extensive links on the east coast.
Reids got a job until RWA finds a better candidate which is difficult because there aren't many people putting they're hands up.
