What I heard at McGillvray yesterday was that several Uni seconds players said they were leaving, after losing badly to Kalamunda.
Also, the Pally second grade is a powerful, experienced, outfit, and almost all of them have played Firsts within the last couple of years, and most are fighting to get back there. I don't think I am exaggerating in suggesting that at the moment they are better than all but the first 4 or 5 teams in the premier grade comp.
UWA hit a low point at the worst possible time for them.
They will recover.
(whispers) fulvio, it's too early in the season for you to be posting stories about pally having any chance of succeeding.
I'm only talking about second grade here, Gigs, and their runs are already on the board from previous seasons!
Fair enough, maybe I was reading too much into the "our seconds are nearly good enough to make the finals" implication.
why did these players choose to leave?
What a weekend of results ... perhaps Mandurah Pirates, Southern Lions, Curtin and Kwinana can have a go at Reserve grade by the end of the season if UWA are anything to go by.
Would love to mention ARKS but I'm in the dark about their result.
Lions/ Pirates game was 12 or so tries, some fantastic attacking rugby to watch with a Lion Burger in full grip.
Dear Kev,
Automatic promotion and relegation is a furphy....
10 team Prems with an 12, 14, 16 or 18 team second grade is totally unworkable.... (and would be a financial disaster for WA rugby....) never mind what is supposed to happen in the lower grades. The financial strength of WA rugby is based on teams in the same club playing together at the same venue. Promoting two team clubs into a comp where clubs are fielding four or five teams in 1st to 4th grades makes no sense. Relegating four team clubs with a Prem team capable of pumping the best team of the promoted club into a two team comp is silly. Relegating clubs with four teams into what is essentially a two team competition is stupid.
Come up with a better idea. something to think about...... Grow your clubs to four teams and ask for a pre-season grading completion.
Fact is most of these teams lose their colts to the prem clubs so how do you want them to grow?
It is not a fact but most probably if these team get a chance at promotion the chances of them losing their colts to other clubs will negated and they then would have less issues to field 3 teams and then 4.
Curtin is an exception to that as they don't have colts, but when they did had them and were starting to show signs of improvement their best players left for prem clubs and they had no choice but to fold. In saying that Curtin currently has three full teams and are therefore in a very good position numbers wise.
That's the same sort of thinking that has the force in the position they're in
That's right you helped orchestrate that didn't you while at the same time trashing club rugby now your back with your rubbish.
It's time you woke up moved on to another project where you can pedal your rubbish you snake oil salesman
