Shame the Australia A concept isn't around anymore.
An attempt to recreate State of Origin would be poor and would likely be panned. I reckon play a game between Aus born Australian players and the overseas born players. Cheika picks the two teams. Wessels and Gibson coach the overseas born while Stiles and McGahan coach the Aussie borns.
Of the starting 15 vs England:
Moore, Kepu, Pocock, Timani, Kuridrani, Naivalu and DHP would be in the overseas team.
How good would it be to see a bunch of potential Wallabies clash heads?
Question: If Coleman is Tasmanian, does he count as overseas?
So...
An overseas team could be:
1. Tet Faulkner
2. Moore
3. Kepu
4. Skelton
5. Mumm
6. RHP
7. Pocock
8. Timani
9. Genia
10. Quade Cooper
11. Speight
12. Kyle Godwin
13. Tevita Kuridrani
14. Naivalu
15. DHP
I have always been of the opinion that wallaby selection by having a possible and probables game or NSW/Qld V the rest WA SA tassie and NT then selct the players for the top 15 from there..
Like an All Black Trialist?
Back to the future. :)
Hopefully the Brumbies and Force will be at the 10's.
1. Scott Sio
2. Andrew Ready
3. Tom Robertson
4.Rory Arnold (no room for Kane Douglas or Rob Simmons)
5. Adam Coleman
6. Scott Fardy
7. Michael Hooper
8. Sean McMahon
9. Nick Phipps
10. Bernard Foley
11. Luke Morahan
12. Reece Hodge
13. Bill Meakes
14. Rob Horne
15. Israel Folau
Not a bad side for the Aus borners.
It might answer a few selection humdingers too. I wait the day when Mumm is dropped for good.
[QUOTE=Emu;421479]WAYNE SMITH
there would be, almost by definition, doubts over the availability of Wallabies players.
...The Rebels, Force and Brumbies might have severe reservations about releasing their players for origin duty [QUOTE=Emu;421479]
Make it 5 a side then.
