If I were an Eagles or Dockers fan I'd be annoyed that RL got in instead of AFL!!
Don't get it - the sooner the stadium can start getting money back for it's build and operational costs the better. Who cares what event it is.
AFL fans can get over it. Their anger is totally unjustified and reeks of entitlement. it's not their stadium. This is exactly why the WAFC events management company didn't get the contract to run the stadium.
Need to stop seeing it as a sports Venue and start seeing it as an events space. Events make money & reduce the facilities burden on the taxpayers who apparently want to keep paying for it in order to have an AFL match open it.
The collective wisdom there is astonishingly lacking
And it's not the first event. Some redhead is there.
Triple header with the Western Force playing another Super Rugby side would be even better...
Yep. They are only saying first football code. There is a chance it won't be ready for the ODI though. If it is ready could be close to a first-up sellout in an given it's the Old Enemy.
A few footie fags need to build a bridge and get over it, now if only they could find it.
Good one Westie. I can't figure why anyone, apart from East Perth residents will use the bridge anyway. Train right to the place will be most popular.
It is pretty hilarious reading about all the bleating though. :iconrofl:
Nearly pissed my pants reading this one.

Just read that "article" in the age shasta, aren't we all glad that Melbourne appears to have the right to retain their super rugby team. A town that is represented by a gentleman with such an intimate knowledge of the game deserves that right.
Exactly how long ago was the Hopoate incident which seemed pretty central to his jingoistic self-flagellation.
I'm glad someone else has noticed this. The rationale for the bridge seems to be that it will allow access to the WACA carparks (until the WACA carparks are built on, which was approved, but now seems to be forgotten about) and a fleet of shuttle buses which will take people back into the city. However, there's no drop-off facilities in the city, no parking for the fleet of buses in East Perth and no obvious bus route which gives priority movement (so horrible traffic jams along Hay Street and/or Wellington Street).
There's also the thought that the bridge will bring people into Claisebrook Cove, and the new Gateway Cove next to the Causeway, but building work on the Gateway Cove has ground to a halt for the last couple of years. If Elizabeth Quay is an indicator, it's about 2 years from opening up if they re-start work now.
Still, at least the bridge will be completed in time for the opening of the stadium; only it won't as it's been delayed by over a year!
Bloody hell, the Aussie Rules people are having a meltdown over this on social media. It's pathetic.
