I don't think anybody who did that strung Qld along for 4 months, causing them to turn the organisation inside out and make all sorts of guarantees before signing.
Maybe I'm ill informed though

Perhaps I am being hypocritical but I think this is worse than the Force exodus. I mean the Tahs are the arch enemy and the statement 'I'd rather join the Tahs than stay here' is a big slap in the face. The Reds were really counting on Barnes and had done so much more to retain him than they did for Sharpie way back when. And to be fair Sharpie was about the only front line Red we took.
man, this keeps getting worse..
QRU chairman Peter Lewis and chief executive Ken Freer have both resigned, now Will Chambers the Melbourne Storm recruit is looking at pulling out of the contract for next year, he signed on the condition that QLD would have Barnes, Ioane and McMenimen in the squad.
The only sane thing I have seen out of any of this is Danial Herbert saying "if the worst-case scenario happens, we pick ourselves up and we keep moving forward". It is all you can do, but at least implies determination and a lack of panic.
You'd almost feel everyone needs to step back for a couple of weeks and take a few deep breaths.
I hope that this brings the remaining Reds together - I tend to think it will.
Barnes has a lot to answer for now. I am really starting to wonder if he may have been a cause of instability at the Reds all along. He obviously believed all along that he was bigger than the club.
To be honest, I doubt it. But fingers crossed for something like Lucas stepping up and forming a really effective partnership with Genia, who cements himself as the Wallaby 9. That would put some pressure on, all 'round...
Some people up this way consider Lucas to be a better 10 than Barnes - he just hasn't had the chance.
Also, word is that Anthony Faingaa is playing the house down for Souths. So its not all bad.
Woohoo! Bring on Barnes - and Digby to follow!
I went to check out gothetahs.com to celebrate, but all they seem to talk about is this site  so here I am...
