The season will commence on Saturday 5th April 2014 (preferred start date agreed at last Presidents meeting), with Round 18 being played on Saturday 24th August 2014. RugbyWA has been informed that next year’s Test match in Perth will be played on Saturday 6th September 2014. To ensure there will be no breaks during our final series of matches we will be scheduling the senior preliminary finals to be played on this weekend.
*
Consequently there will be GENERAL BYES on the following weekends for next season:
*
Saturday 19th April – Easter weekend
Saturday 31st May – June long weekend
Saturday 5th July – Last Force home game where kick off is scheduled for 5.40pm
*
RugbyWA requests that you liaise with your local councils as soon as possible to ensure field availabilities will not be an issue for your club.
The ability to make changes to these draws is now very limited as we look to incorporate both 10 team and 18 team draws to work side by side to ensure when a club is playing at home the majority of its teams will be playing at home.
*
*** Please note that Rockingham will not field a Reserve Grade side in 2014 as they continue to build their club to field all grades in the near future.
Subsequently, RugbyWA have had discussions with Joondalup to play in Rockingham’s vacant Reserve grade position.
This will ensure that your reserve grade (and 3rd and 4th Grade) will not have a bye when playing Rockingham.
RugbyWA are working through the logistics of this a present, however it will not affect your home game fixtures, they will still all be played at home, and we will be aiming to minimise any disruption this may cause.

RugbyWA looks forward to successfully implementing the new competition format for the upcoming season and would like to thank you for the support we have received in making these significant competition changes over the past few months.
The changes will allow continued growth in WA over the coming years and this is an exciting time to be involved in Perth Rugby

A better option than putting Joondalup straight into Prems. Some clubs may struggle for the away games without the support of their reserves side i.e providing backup for Prems grade.
Joondalup therefore must now have 3 senior teams - 2nds, 3rds & 4ths for this to work.
unless they play all their games away this is going to affect the other clubs who will lose access to there seconds players who back up for 1st
should only happen when a club plays Rockingham
not really
It will affect the team playing 1st's in rocky aswell as when Joondalup have a home game.
The first team wont be there they will be were ever the rest of the club is either home or away hence it will only work in Joondalup play all there games where ever rocky is playing it wouldnt work in a norm home and away situation.
Wherever Rocky are, home and away, Joondalup will have to be there too. They can't stuff the whole of the competition up just for one club. That means Joondalup should not get any home games for their Ist Grade (now premiership 2nd Grade).
Seems to me to bit of a decision on the run by RugbyWA - I understand the need to have an equal number of Reserve and Premier grade sides but what happens when Rocky get their Reserve Grade back. Bet we'll hear plenty of more squeals of unfairness up Joondalup way.
