Good to have him back. Poor bugger.
Out of respect I have laid off the shire jokes recently.
Grieving Rogers set to miss season start
Thursday Jan 26 12:10 AEDT
Grieving Wallaby star Mat Rogers is likely to miss the first three rounds of the new Super 14 rugby competition.
Coach Ewen McKenzie said Rogers' return to action for the NSW Waratahs was being carefully managed following the death of his father Steve early this month.
McKenzie's "best estimation" was that Rogers would be back for the first home game, against the Sharks in round four on March 4.
"I've spoken to Mat and he's still struggling a bit, and we fully understand that it's going to take time for him to return to the Mat Rogers we all know," McKenzie said.
"In terms of time, my best estimation for him to return would be after our first travel block, which means we could expect him back by round four.
"In the same way that we prepare for a player returning from injury, we are carefully managing Mat's comeback from this tragedy and we'll continue to do so in coming weeks."
