Yet again, the TMO starts running the match.
I'm not sure how many Super Rugby venues have big screens at the ground nowadays. But is there any need for a TMO these days? Direct communication between match officials and the TV director could be sufficient really.
I've always thought the TMO should replay what the ref has asked for then STFU- let the ref make the decision
The TMO was Damien Mitchellmore, same guy who insisted on DHP being yellowed for Perenaras flop against the Canes.
Three weeks off for Peni.
Up and coming Western Force winger Chance Peni will miss his side's final Super Rugby match of 2017 after being suspended for three weeks on Sunday night.
The Force will finish their 2017 commitments with a match against the NSW Waratahs on Saturday night in Perth at nib Stadium.
Peni was given a yellow card by referee Will Houston following the incident in the fifth minute of the Force's match against the Melbourne Rebels last night night in Perth.
But the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee felt the incident reached the red card threshold and he was cited to appear before the judiciary on Sunday night.
Peni will not be able to participate in any form of the game up to and including Saturday, July 29.
In his finding, Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Nigel Hampton QC said the incident merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks.
"However, taking into account mitigating factors including the Player's youth and inexperience in rugby, his clear judicial record and the fact he pleaded guilty at the earliest available opportunity, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to three weeks," Hampton said.
Bugger
Disappointing :verysad:
Who was the last Force player to get hauled over the Foul Play Review Committee?
What absolute f##nbullshit!
From what we've watched on replay, it doesn't look like a deliberate shoulder charge, the 'whole' footage shows the Rebels player running into Chance. I don't reckon the edited footage shows how it actually turned But anyway it's immaterial, if the ARU think they can turn next week to their favour with the crap Tahs, go for it!
I like the fact they gave him a three week suspension - are they trying to tell us something?
Peni was lucky it was only a yellow and not a red card.
I agree with the yellow, it was a head knock. Not deliberate/intentional, not direct. Hit chest came up to chin. Had to be penalised. For SBW sympathisers, SBW had time to avoid his own player. Peni comitted unfortunately contact to head was made. I think a yellow with post game judiciary is the best outcome (and im not talking biased) it wasnt dirty, result of playing hard of which contact was made
I thought at the time it looked ugly, after viewing the replay I didn't argue the card, I don't think the penalty is too harsh, peni made a choice to turn away and lay the shoulder, you could see the move start in the footage.
To complain about it just makes us sound like All Blacks supporters.
