Got the following response from ARU Customer Support this afternoon after my email to them this morning
"We thank you for your email regarding the latest speculation about our Super Rugby teams. Below is the official media release which was released today explaining the speculation.
ARU STATEMENT ON SUPER RUGBY FUTURE
MARCH 28, 2017
In response to recent media speculation, the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) issues the following statement in relation to the future of the Super Rugby competition and Australia’s Super Rugby teams.
ARU CEO Bill Pulver said: “The ARU wishes to clarify its current position in the SANZAAR review of the Super Rugby competition.
“As announced by SANZAAR following the SANZAAR Board meeting in London earlier this month, the four member nations have undertaken a period of stakeholder consultation to work towards an agreed outcome on the competition format for the 2018 season. This stakeholder consultation, which has included consultation with broadcast partners in each territory, is ongoing. At this point, there has been no determination on the future competition format or the teams involved in the competition.
“We also wish to confirm for the public record that no decision has been taken on the removal of one of Australia’s Super Rugby teams.
“ARU, as a joint venture partner of SANZAAR, is working towards a final resolution in the shortest timeframe possible and will inform Rugby fans as soon as an outcome is reached.”

We hope this clarifies your queries and please contact us if you have any further questions.
Kind Regards,"
So, the ARU is consistent in its claims today that "no decision has been made" - the real question is where did the leak originate and is there any basis for it - which unfortunately I suspect there is!
Only thing we can do is respond politely but with absolute outrage that the Force and supporters will feel absolutely betrayed if it does happen - please keep up the email, tweets etc so the ARU will see a big downside if they go down this path
I got the same generic response..
Emails sent to both ARU and FOXTEL..
The Force have won only once this season - against conference rivals the Reds - and have the worst statistics in the competition in terms of metres run, breaks made and defenders beaten.
Their scrum showed some resistance against the Crusaders in their 45-17 loss in Christchurch last weekend, although the legality of what their front row was doing during the seemingly endless resets is debatable.
And they are also struggling to hold on to the ball - their average time in possession of 13mins 37secs is the worst in Super rugby and well behind the Hurricanes' best of 17:40
Yahhhhh, Letsget Tom Fearn back, tell your Dad to give us a call!
Well I just signed the petition, but say only 250 names on it. What?
In the immortal words of the Orange monster this is fake news. There has been no decision made by the ARU because they have not been asked by SANZAR to make one. The ARU have assured us of this. So let's assume that this has come about because of all the good things that are happening on our coast. We have a new and very solid sponsor, our Own the Force campaign has been widely acclaimed , the team is playing a more attractive style of Rugby which will bear fruit this season ,our Future Force program is the envy of all states and other than Qld and NSW we are the only franchise that is growing significant player numbers locally.
So ask yourselves who's behind this BS and keep the faith.

You reap what you sow!
We all know here in SA that your coach is bankrolled by his old man!
It is unbelievable that 'Lions' are mentioned in the same breath as your lowly force as a team to be axed!
FYI to all of you.
Just read a retweet from Dave Wessels that originated from Mark McGowan - Premier of W.A. and I quote:
@MarkMcGowanMP - Just got off the phone with the CEO of the ARU to make it clear that Western Australia wants @westernforce to stay. #SeaofBlue.
