why the assumption we can only acheive a poorly/minimally upgraded MES?
exactly!
i believe i said that a few weeks ago and got crucified for it!
Assumption is on quoted numbers not standard for mine.
And it being in a shit location.
so in short,
we hold out for a real purpose built stadium which the governement won't commit to and we're boned because continuing to play at Subiaco will doom us
take a token upgrade to MES to the tune of 22-25,000 seats and we're boned again becasue some corporates may not get a box, so RugbyWA will lose money
Yup.
Better the devil you know than the devil you don't I guess...
um, its not all doom and gloom. whatever solution gets worked out will not disadvantage the Force as they'll make a move in the direction that best suits them and they're fans, corporate or not. just keep in mind what i keep hinting at concerning RugbyWAs Geoff Stookes aquaintance with the new sports minister (?) Terry Waldron (i think thats his name and ministry portfolio)
Hmm Buswell is more or less saying there is no money for this Stadium - cause Ms Roberrts and McTieran blew the money- so I'm guessing there may be an interim solution just not sure what large crumbs the AFL will get
We are Doomed
In greenfield build, it is $10k per seat. $25M = 2,500 seats (and brownfield build will typically be higher). Even if we manage it, there would be no upgrade to changerooms or training facilities, the surface to cater for three sports, the broadcasting facilities, any corporate facilities, toilets and concessions for big crowds, or any of the "experience" stuff.
As an aside, you underestimate the importance of the concessions - my understanding is that, while the WAFC soaks RWA for a quarter mill each game, they get that again from the food and drink outlets. If that money was coming back to rugby...
Maybe the "sporting precinct" in Burswood is the way to push this.
