It annoys me that, in media speak, "ugly" is equated to "dour", "spoiling", "attritional" and "forwards-dominated" (and that is just the first two paragraphs!).
I though there was too many mistakes for the game to reach any great heights, and the scrums in particular looked very ordinary, but like RRG I saw it more as a defensive arm-wrestle. There was never anything in it, one good passage of play could have stolen it at any time, and even as an uninvolved spectator I found it compelling enough. But it really pisses me off the way the media talks down the game - OK, it wasn't the miracle match, but I've seen far less interesting games. When was the last time you heard the NRL or AFL blanket described as rubbish by their own media coverage?
