There are no quotes from Giteau in the article, it's not on thewest.com.au or on Fox Sports, and it IS the Sunday Times (aka glorified gossip magazine). How true can this be?

WHat The......... :protest: :boohoo:
:shakeshead:
Given the way this whole saga has been reported, I'll wait to hear a direct quote from the Mouth of Matt Giteau.
but I'm worried!
Whaddya know... a crap day just got worse.
Kinda in the Gigs school of thought that a direct quote would be helpful, but I can't recall off the top of my head Nick Taylor writing too much shite for the sake of a bit of contraversey- I'd be more inclined to dismiss it if it had come from Rugby Heaven or something.
Dare I say, with this announcement, I'm pretty much expecting a crap season 09 that's going to revolve around 'what happens next'
grrrrr
o well
i thought it may happen but yeh
Interesting timing, just before the Brumbies match. He must really hate being booed when he goes back there...
Its on Fox Sports news, Rod Kafer is crapping on about it

on the main page its titled "Giteau to quit the Force today". go to the article its titled "Giteau to quit the Force"
Let's face it, this shouldn't really come as any surprise given what happened before the season started. It was always going to be a long-shot for him to stay in WA past the 2009 season.
If he, or his manager, has had anything to do with the timing of this piece then I am very disapppointed. Any talk of switching teams is disruptive during the season but I think that Scotty is on to something with him wanting to 'get it out into the open' before the Force play the Brumbies so the ACT crowd don't boo him too much.
Let's hope that he is professional enough to give 100% to the Force for the remainder of the season (especially next week v Brumbies).
I don't think other players will base their re/non signing with the Force based on whether Gits is here or not.....they can't all play for the Brumbies. If they want to play with Gits, then they just need to step up & hope Aussie-Rob picks them for the Wallabies!!!
didn't he say he would stick around if the Force do well this year?! its the 2nd game... so confusing with all these journalists and their theories.
quote from Giteau on the Foxsports website, strange time to make the announcement indeedQuote:
"I was very fortunate to have two fantastic offers to consider," said Giteau, Giteau, who has played 26 matches for the Force since joining the club for the 2007 season.
"In the end it came down to a simple desire to return to Canberra.
"Now the decision has been made, it's great to be able to focus entirely on playing for the Force and working hard to break through for our first finals campaign."

I doubt he is going to give a crap where the force ends up, he should have made decisions at the end of the season. I know when I made up my mind to quit my last job I most definately wasn't going to put in 100% effort for something I did care about.
Having said that, best of luck Matt and thanks for chillaxing with the Force :)
On the one hand, I guess once the deal was done, they were better off making an official announcment, otherwise it would have been leaked at some point and looked bad for all parties, but I think it's going to be very destabilising for the team coming so early in the season.
Definately weird timing with the Brumbies next week though- the actual game will be a total sideshow compared to the return of the prodigal son.
