Cannon's career on the line

THE career of veteran Australia hooker Brendan Cannon was in the balance last night after he suffered a shocking neck injury in Christchurch.
The Western Force hooker hurt his neck in a scrum collapse 10 minutes from full-time in the 53-0 loss to the Crusaders.
Cannon lay prone for several minutes as medical staff rushed to his side and put him in a neck brace. He was carefully moved on to a stretcher and then taken to hospital, where he spent the night.
Force chief executive Peter O'Meara last night said Cannon had started to get movement back in his left hand, although he still had numbness and weakness.
Cannon was having X-rays and scans at the Christchurch public hospital to assess the damage.
O'Meara said it was thought the hooker may have aggravated a previous injury.
"The prognosis long term is good but we'll have to see about the short term," O'Meara said.
Cannon was almost certain to be picked in the Wallabies squad for the World Cup in France this year.
But the injury is thought to be almost identical to one he suffered in the same match last year when he suffered a severe compression of two vertebrae in his neck, with bone chipping off, lodging in a nerve canal and affecting his left side.
Doctors spent five hours removing a bone fragment to ease pressure on the vertebra.
If the injury is in the same place, it is almost certain to end his career.
First reports said he was experiencing tingling in his left arm.
Cannon, who has played 100 games of Super rugby, celebrated his 34th birthday on Thursday - and has just signed a new one-year contract with Force.
Wish Bren all the best and hope everything goes well, thoughts are with the family to.
SHIT!that has got to suck, I wish Cannon all the best hope he can come back strong :D
Neck injuries are not like other injuries, Canno's got a tough road ahead of him and i hope he gets well soon!! Though i think this may be the end as you wouldn't think he would want to risk his future health by playing a few more games and risk something like it happening again?

Hope he's ok :(
