I hear Baysie will have three players coming off the coast with a pocket full of gold next year. Is that right Westie?

Pretty ordinary form clubs contacting our players around finals time.
Yeah, some things are lower than a duck's nuts.
It's only one player and he's shopping himself around anyway.Reckons he 's been approached by Paly Soaks and Baysie I reckon he's fulla shit but because he's been such a loyal hardworking club man I will personally pay his new club's fees for him as a token of our gratitude
I know what you mean there Rangi, very rare that players bought are loyal members of the club! I heard he is trying to bring another player with him for an extra top up, a player the boys don't want to lose!!! There has already been some poaching attempts, the day after uni found out they hadn't made the four I know of some phone calls that were made by their coach... They sure are on to it!

Seems the annual Poaching Season has started a bit early this year.
When will clubs learn that these characters that "market" themselves to various clubs with various forms of blackmail and veiled threats to their existing clubs and lines like "what can your club offer me, the other mob are offering me this" usually relayed via a 3rd party are poison to any club that picks them up and will only lead to heart ache.
Wouldn't it be a good thing if clubs communicated and didn't give these guys any mileage?
RM I agree with your view on that 100%
And exactly how would it be policed ... or resolved.
Any club taking on mercenaries should be well aware of it, any coach or alikadoo securing funding for a move knows what to expect.
For a 1st XV to get results you need top players ... and if the comments have foundation as reported in this forum previously, when Pally coach said to Wests coach "We'd have done exactly the same ... " albeit in a slightly different context, it's all about winning.
Good to see the gossip about it going on and a degree of self policing, but lets drop the naivety ...
The policing of it is very simple but relies on trust which often doesn't exist between clubs.
I wonder if Kala thought their $10K man was money well spent this year?
Also wonder if the same dollars will be offered for next season?
Its at this time of year that clubs can contemplate how good (or not) an investment some of these mercenaries are. Hopefully they come to their senses and don't perpetuate the blind pursuit of success.
