Versatile backrower Matt Hodgson has been rewarded for his outstanding 2009 season by winning The West Australian Rosendorff Rolex Emirates Western Force Player of the Year Award.
The award was announced tonight at the Emirates Western Force Awards Evening at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth.
The 28-year-old won a magnificent Rolex Submariner wrist watch, valued at $12,370 and kindly donated by Rosendorff and Rolex.
Hodgson, who signed a two-year contract extension in January that will see him remain with the club until the end of 2011, polled 286 votes to finish ahead of flyhalf Matt Giteau and flanker David Pocock. Giteau and Pocock were separated by just three votes for second place.
The ultra-consistent Hodgson played all 13 games during the 2009 Investec Super... [Read More]

Nic Henderson will add even more punch to an outstanding 2010 front row classThe already-imposing prop brigade at the Emirates Western Force has been further bolstered by the signing of three-Test Wallaby Nic Henderson from the Brumbies.
Henderson, a veteran of 70 Super Rugby caps, joins fellow Test props Pek Cowan and Matt Dunning, and former Hurricanes stalwart Tim Fairbrother in Perth after finalising a two year deal today.
Born in the Queensland country town of Millmerran, Henderson played rugby league as a junior and was snapped up by the Melbourne Storm in 2000.
The 117kg prop crossed codes in 2002, and was fast-tracked into the Australian Under 21s squad that same year.
The 2004 season was a watershed for Henderson, as he debuted for both the Brumbies and the Wallabies. He added two... [Read More]

Dry July also aims to make people aware of their own drinking habits and the value of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Personally, I am well aware of my drinking habits and the value these habits add to my life ... [Read More]
